インターネットの時代、今は中々見る事の出来ない本・情報も探してみると出てくるものです。1922年に出版されたR.C.Bridgettの"Dry Fly Fishing"はつり人ノベルズの「英国のフライフィッシング史」(椎名重明著)にも出てくる本ですが、それがインターネットで全文読める事を発見しました。
スコットランドの読者向けに同地でドライフライ釣りをするための情報とアドバイスを詰めた本。今日の我々にも参考になる情報があります。
その中に、今日の日本では、余り耳にする事のない下記情報がありました:
①カゲロウのダンにはダブルウィング(スターリング等のクイルを二重にする)とコックハックル一枚を使う。これはカゲロウが4枚の羽を持つ事を模倣するためではなく、毛針の耐久性が非常に増すからである。一枚のクイルでは魚を掛ける、或は水中に潜ってしまうだけでウイングが壊れてしまう。
②スピナーについて、ハックルポイントをウイングとして使ったスピナーは水面にべったり張り付くスペントスピナーを模す事は出来ない。実験の結果、それより柔らかいヘンハックルを使ったスパイダーパターンの方が水面との絡み方も遥かに良く、釣果も上がる。
