今年初めての釣りをしに、養沢へ行ってまいりました。
大震災の一周年という日でしたので、多少不謹慎な思いではありましたものの、行ける日がこの日だけでしたので、日曜日の早朝5時36分発の、いつもの小田急線に乗車し、登戸、立川と乗り換え、7時5分武蔵五日市駅発のバスに乗り、7時20分過ぎに到着です。
朝から釣り人は事務所の暖炉の周りを取り囲み暖を取っておりました。私が受け取った番号は16番。朝から結構な数の釣り人が訪れておりました。
I went fishing in Yozawa for the very first fishing of this season.
Feeling a bit guilty to do fishing on the day of the one year anniversary of the huge earthquake, having, however, this day only for a day's fishing, I took 5:36 Odakyu-Train to Noborito, thereafter JR to Musashi-Itshukaichi via Tachikawa, then a bus leaving 7:05, I arrived a bit later than 7:20 at Yozawa.
Already some fishermen were sitting surrounding a hot stove of the office. No.16 was the number I got. Many fishermen were there despite so cold and early morning indeed.
気温は2度、水温は6度。かなり厳しいコンディションです。今年最初の釣行に同行させたのはPerfection 9'とPerfect 3 1/8。それにCortland社のSylk AFTMA 4番という道具立てです。
Air temperature was 2C, water 6C. It was really hard condition for trout fishing. Perfection 9' rod, Perfect 3 1/8 reel and Sylk AFTMA 4 of Cortland were my equipments accompanying me at this time.
どんより曇った空の下、取りあえず上流を目指して歩きます。
気温が低く、かじかむ手をBarbourのInternational Jacketに突っ込んで歩きます。もっと気温が高ければ、流れの多少早いところにもやる気のある魚がいるのでしょうが、この気温・水温では流れが緩やかなところで竿を出すに限ります。養沢センターを越えて見ると松葉には誰も入渓していないので、入ります。
シーズン最初の一投ですので、Greenwell's Gloryのドライフライを結んで投げてみました。魚は居るのですが、底にへばりついて全く反応がありません。数投であきらめ、ウェットフライのGreenwell's Gloryを結び直し斜め上流に投げダウンクロスに流します。
I start walking under the very cold cloudy condition with my stiff, cold hands in Barbour's International Jacket. There must be more active fish in the current if the water temperature would be higher, but I had no other choice than to give a try at a place like shallow pool. Passing by Yozawa Centre, having seen nobody fishing, I enter into ''Matsuba'' point.
As it was the very first cast of the year, I tied a dry fly version of Greenwell's Glory and put the fly upstream by some yards cast. I could see some fish, but they were simply too inactive to show interest in my dry fly neatly presented shortly before their nose. I gave up after a few casts, untied the dry fly and tied Greenwell's wet fly to cast it slightly upstream at first and let it drift down cross.
すると、即座に手応えがあり、魚が水中でキラリと光ります。合わせて釣り上げたのは小さな虹鱒君でした。
I felt a take instantly. A silver flash in the water and there was a rather small rainbow trout taken by the fly.

その後も松葉で川の底にへばりついた魚をウェットフライで数匹釣り、場所を変えます。
上流を目指し歩き、木の小屋を過ぎていつもの平和橋の上流を見てみると空いているので入ります。
After having taken several fish sticking on the bottom of the water at ''Matsuba'', I changed the place.
Waking upstream, passing through ''Kinokoya'' Soba Restaurant, having seen nobody was fishing there, I took place at ''Heiwa-Bashi'' point.
ウェットフライのダウンクロスを試みますが、ここは魚が乗ってくれません。しつこく粘り、数匹釣り上げます。
Down cross wet fly fishing. But fish were not so friendly on the day. I could take several more fish with my patience though.
なかなかウェットフライに反応しないので、仕方なし。余りやりたくないのですが渓流釣りのヤーン目印をリーダーとティッペットの結び目のちょっと上に結び、フライをPhesant Tailニンフに取り替え、15ヤード程上流に投げてみます。するとすぐに反応があり、虹鱒がかかります。これで数匹釣った後、またアタリが出たので合わせ取り込むと、ヤマメでした。
Wet fly lost its charm in the meantime. I put a yarn at the leader and tippet knot and exchanged wet fly with pheasant tail nymph of Frank Sawyer. It was not my favorite style to use indicator frankly, but no other choice. I pitched it in 15 yards upstream and got quick offer by a fish; I tightened the line so the hook went home; it was a rainbow. I got several fish this way. Another pull and another fight! A Yamame was it.
まだサビが出ている魚で、年越ししたものの様です。脂びれはそのままですので、ヤマメバッジはもらえませんが、ヤマメはいつ釣っても良いものです。
A darkish one, must stayed the off season in the river. A beautiful fish with sound fins. I could not receive the ''Yamame Badge'', which is given to the fishermen caught Yamame with a fat fin cut a bit short, it really did not matter before this beauty from the river.

その後、平和橋から上流を覗いて歩きます。
After that I walked further upstream from ''Heiwa-Bashi''.

体がそのうち固まってしまったので、昼前に釣りを止め、木の小屋で温かいソバを頂きました。
I stopped fishing before noon, for my whole body was frozen, and went back to ''Kinokoya''. I got hot soba there.
昼食後は川を下りつつ竿をちょこちょこ出し、事務所に戻ります。途中、事務所のすぐ上流の瀞場にヤマメが数匹泳いでいるのを見、欲を出してIron Blueのドライフライを結び投げましたが、後ろの木にひっかかってしまい、回収すら出来ない羽目になりました。もう今日の釣りは終わりです。
After lunch, I fished at several points along the river on the way back to the office. I tied a Iron Blue dry fly and casted to present it to Yamame swimming in a shallow pool above the office. Alas, the beautiful dry fly was caught a tree backwards and could not be retrieved. Today's fishing was over.
14時46分、事務所の中で1分間の黙祷を捧げました。
I gave my silent minute to the victims of the great quake at 14:46 at the office.
15時5分のバスに乗り武蔵五日市駅へ向かいます。乗客は私一人だけ。
I took 15:05 bus to Musashi-Itsukaichi. Only passenger was me.
暖かくなってくれば、このバスももっと沢山の乗客を乗せて走る事でしょう。
This bus will bring many passengers after it will be warmer.
