暑中お見舞い申し上げます。

1985年制作 暑中見舞い用の銅版画
「版」をなくてはならない媒介として 表現手段として
制作する「版画家」の場合は
製版や刷りも自分でこなすので
自ずと作家それぞれの工夫やアイディアが盛り込まれます。
職人との共同作業である工房制作とはまた違う
オリジナリティー溢れる作品が制作されるように思います。
作家本人でなければ どのように仕上げれたのか解らない場合もあって
その独自性が魅力ともなっています。
このように様々なTextureを駆使し
１枚１枚がまさにオリジナルとして
鑑賞に堪える作品が数多くの版画家によって制作されているのですが
しかし まだその認識が広く行き渡っているとは言えない状況が
ちょっと残念ではあります。
逆に考えると作品の魅力も価値も充分あるはずなので
市場としてはこれから大きく伸びてゆく可能性を秘めていると思います。

Hanga artists who use plates or frames as integral medium or as one of representations
manage to make the plates or frames and do printings by themselves.
So their contrivances and ideas are naturally incorporated in their works respectively.
The works with full of originalities can be made and they are different from the work
with division of labor.
Sometimes no one but the artist knows how the work was made, and such a uniqueness
makes it attractive.
Thus, making full use of various elements, many Hanga artists make praiseworthy
prints as the original sheet by sheet.
It is a shame that recognition of Hanga like this hasn’t been wildly spread yet.
To put it the other way around, they are so fascinating and valuable that those markets
could have great possibilities of expanding for the future.

（かなり深く腐蝕した銅板をインクを詰めずに空刷りしたもです。
周りの網状のものは網戸の網をソフトグランド技法で移しとったものです）
真夏の夜の一杯
ギンギンに冷やした辛口とししゃも 梅干しは新物
ヒグラシの鳴き声を聞きながらの一杯は格別です。
