世界的には版画制作は 絵画（あるいは彫刻）などの作家が
版画工房や職人達との協同作業で創られる場合が多いようです。
作家が手を下すのはほとんどは原画の段階までで
「製版」や「刷り」は職人が担当する分業作業です。
日本の浮世絵などもこの方法で製作されていました。
これに比べ現代日本での「版画家」というのは
原画から版作り・刷りまで一貫して作家本人が制作する人を言います。
つまり 作家役と職人役を一人で担う訳です。
こういう状態は世界的にみてもかなり特殊なArtistのようです。

Worldwide, most of the printmakings are joint operations with an artist (painter or sculptor etc.), and artisans in a Hanga studio.
What artists do themselves is just designing images, as for plate or frame making
and printing, the artisans assume the role.
Japanese woodblock prints “Ukiyoe” were made this way.
Compared to this, Hanga artists in Japan now refer to the creators who perform
all the process including designing, making plates and printing in person.
They undertake both an artist’s role and an artisan’ one, which is the unique situation
as artists in a global sense.
先月漬けた「梅漬け」を土用の丑の日前後の強い日差しに三日三晩晒し
「梅干し」にします。
こうすると常温でカビも生えず１００年でも持つんですね。
昔の人の知恵はたいしたものです。
