「からすみ」Karasumi (Dried Mullet Roe)

さだまさしの「朝刊」という歌の中で
お嫁さんが「からすみ」を煮てしまう歌詞が出てきます。
お酒を嗜むことが少なく　肴の知識も無い　若い女の人なら
まぁしょうがないとも言えるのですが.......

In the lyrics of the song “Newspaper” by Sada Masashi、there is a passage that
a young wife boiled Karasumi by mistake.
She’s young and probably rarely drinks, so isn’t knowledgeable about delicacies.
I don’t blame her…



年若くもなく　お酒はさんざん嗜みつづけたうちの相方は
「からすみ」を冷凍してしまいました！！
上の写真は冷凍からもどした状態です。
ぼろぼろと崩れて味も風味もとんでしまいました.......

元来日持ちするように丁寧な加工法で作られたものですから
常温でもいいのです。昔は冷蔵庫なんか無いのですから。

何日も持たせようという気持ちは解るのですが.......
せっかくの....... 高価な....... からすみ哀れ..........

However… my partner, who is NOT young and has kept on drinking a longtime
did freeze Karasumi　!!
It came to lose its shape and reduced the flavor.

Originally, it is made through the special process, in order to keep long.
It keeps well in normal temperature, since we had no fridge before.

I understand she intended to keep it loーーーーng.
Ah…my expensive Karasumi…poor thing…
