美術鑑賞って何？ ２ What is appriciation of fine arts? 2

少々乱暴だろうと言われるのを覚悟の上で
私の推論を進めてみたいと思います。

You may say my inference is too rough.
Being well aware of it, I’m going on.

セザンヌやピカソが現れる以前　それまでの欧州に於ける
多くの絵画はどちらかというと装飾性・見る事を楽しむ鑑賞性に
重きを置いた作品が中心でした。
後期印象派くらいまででしょうか。

ルノワール（1841-1919）の描く婦人の肌は血が通っているようだ　とか
いやアングル（1780-1867）の裸婦の方がいい　とか
多くの人は画家の優れた再現性の技量を安心して楽しんでいられました。

Before the time of Cezanne and Picasso,
many of the pictures in Europe were, if anything,
decoration -or enjoyment- oriented.

Maybe such a situation had continued
until the era of Post Impressionism or thereabout.

“The woman’s skin Renoir depicted looks lifelike”
“I prefer the Ingres’s nude” and etc,etc.

Most of the people enjoyed at ease artist’s skill
or talent for reproduction in their pictures.
