あれほど人気があった版画が
なぜ酷い結果となってしまったのか.....

第１には　異常に多い edition です。刷り過ぎですね。
限定部数といっても　１点につき　合わせると１０００枚から２０００枚以上は
刷った場合もあったようで（AP等も含めて）　
値崩れが起きるのは当然のことです。

ヒロ・ヤマガタ氏の場合はまた
（これはご本人が会見の場でおっしゃって　ニュースにもなりましたが）
自らの作品を否定するかのような発言と共に
版画制作をやめてしまったことも人気の無くなった原因になったようです。


第２は　やはり絵としての「魅力」「力」が
そもそも持続出来ない程度のものであったのでしょう。
魅力があればいくら刷り過ぎても支持する人が多いはずです。

（棟方志功のように限定部数など設けず　刷り続けた作品であっても
今だにその素晴らしさは評価されています）

第３は耐性が弱かった事。退色の度合いが早いんですね。
（これは版画全般に言えることでもあるのですが）

後はまぁ　儲けるだけ儲けた数多くのブローカーが後のケァーをせずに
消えてしまったというのもかなり大きいと思います。
（買い戻してもらおうにも　相手がもう居ない・連絡がつかない
ケースがあったようです......）


これで増々「版画はだめだ！」と言う方が多くなったようです........

Why such popular Hangas resulted in such a situation?

First, it’s due to extraordinary many edition numbers, 1000 to 2000 sheets
per single original.
It’s not surprising that the prices collapsed.
In the case of Mr. Hiro Yamagata, on top of that, he made a negative statement
about his own work at a news conference and stopped printmaking, which was
one of the reasons that the prints became less popular.

Second, the fascination or energy of the picture themselves couldn’t be long-lasting ones, otherwise, the works should have sustained people’s interest.
Taking Munakata, he didn’t set the edition number and kept on printing if requested.
However, they are still highly valued.

Third, they were less durable, in other words, discolored in a relatively quick degree.
It applies in the whole Hanga though.

Last of all, many dealers have gone without after-sale service after making money
to the full.
If customers wanted to have the print repurchased, there was no contact any more.
Therefore, people saying “ No more Hangas” increased….
