国際環境NGOグリーンピースは、1月7日、来日中のトルコのエルドアン首相と安倍首相が首脳会談を行う予定であることを受けて、トルコ・日本双方の事務所から下記の声明を発表しました。

「昨年、トルコ共和国は樹立から90年を迎えました。100周年に向けてトルコの市民が望むのは、原子力ではなく自然エネルギー利用の拡大です。東京電力福島第一原発事故が収束していないなか、原発輸出を推進する日本政府、日本企業の姿勢は非倫理的であり、国際的責任を放棄しています。日本がトルコへ輸出しようとしている原発は新型で、これまで建設・運転の実績はありません。
トルコは日本と同様、地震国です。建設予定地のシノップはほぼ閉鎖海域である黒海の沿岸であり、事故が起これば、観光地であるシノップはもちろん、黒海全域に被害が及びます。事故などのリスクを市民に押し付ける原発輸出は、両国の信頼関係を無にしうるものです。
グリーンピースの調査では、トルコ全体では6割以上が、原発建設予定地では8割以上の住民が原発に反対しています。初の建設許可が1976年におりたアックユ原発も、住民の強い反対などで30年以上経過した現在も建設されておらず、トルコには現在原発が一基もありません。トルコの市民が日本に望んでいるのは、原発輸出ではなく、持続可能な自然エネルギー技術です」。

「日本では、すべての原発が停止した状態が4カ月近く続いていますが、電力供給には問題が出ていません。この事実が、原発に反対する世界中の人々を勇気づけています。日本政府にとっても、企業にとっても、省エネルギー・自然エネルギー技術の利用の増加により、化石燃料への依存をも減らせることを世界に示すチャンスがあると言えます。実質的に脱原発を達成した日本において、必要なのは決断です」。
