私の住んでいる街は人口７万人程の いわゆる首都圏の衛星都市です。
都心まで小１時間の距離にも関わらず 田園風景の広がる落ち着いた街です。
この街の唯一の「書店」が昨日 閉鎖されました....
ラジオ講座テキストやちょっとした文庫本・書籍を買うのには とても便利な「本屋さん」でした。
今では 本の購入はAmazonがあるし
これからは電子書籍の時代だから 支障はないと言われる向きもあるでしょうが....
時代の変化だけであるなら 対応の方法もありますが
何かしら周囲が萎縮していくような 漠然とした不安が心細くさせます。
本屋が入っていた大型スーパーも 撤去した店舗ですかすかした空間が目立ちます。
経済学者の池田信夫氏のブログには 一層不安をかき立てる話しも載っていました。

やれやれ..... 鰊漬けだ 沢庵漬けだと 現を抜かしている場合ではないのかもしれませんが
いや だからこそ 心癒されるものを切実に望むのも心情でしょう。
と言った所で 前振りが長くなりましたが
今回はNORIKO先生が小樽まで行って取材してくれました「雪明かりの路」を お送りします。

Our city has a population of about 70 thousand and is so-called a satellite city
of the capital region.
It takes less than an hour to go to the center of Tokyo by train, but we can enjoy
quiet rural life.
The only one bookstore in the town closed down yesterday…
It was convenient for getting radio course textbooks or pocket books etc.
Nowadays, we have Amazon and come to live in the era of e-book, so some people
may have no problem.
If it’s due to just the change of the time, I could manage to adapt to it.
But I feel ill at ease thinking the surroundings are deteriorating.
In the supermarket where the bookstore was, a lot of vacant spaces are seen
due to pulled out stores.
An economist Ikeda Nobuo’s comments on his blog arouse more unrest.
Is there no time for being addicted pickles?
All the more, we could use a little peace of mind.
My prefatory statement has become too long.
