The humble onion is the star of the Onion Market held in Weimar every October. These are no ordinary onions lumped together in crates or sacks; these are onions plaited together in the traditional way and decorated with dried flowers of yellow, white or lilac. They come in all sizes too – from tiny ones to a whopping big one.
（抜粋）謙虚なオニオン（玉葱）は、毎年１０月に開催される Onion Market ではスターなのです。 箱や袋に詰められたような普通のオニオンはありません。 伝統的な方法で、黄色・白・薄紫色などのドライフラワーと一緒に飾り付けられて編まれた格好になっています。 あらゆるサイズのものがあり、小さくて可愛いものから、とんでもなく大きいものまであるのです。

For a city with a population of just 65,000, it’s pretty impressive that around 350,000 people normally visit Weimar's onion festival, which takes place annually on the second weekend of October (this year the 7th-9th).
What started as an agricultural market "for beasts and onions" in 1653 has now become a much bigger affair, celebrating local culture, beer, and music, but the onions certainly take center stage.
Many of the stalls are elaborately decorated with garlands of onions, and some of the tear-jerking vegetables are even made into little dolls.
There’s shallot to do, and it will certainly put a spring in your step!

多くの屋台の店は、オニオンの花輪で入念に飾られており、また、いくつかの涙を誘う野菜（注： 玉葱）は、可愛い人形に仕立てられているのです。
