別のサイトの情報では、“ 8 Year Blended Scotch Whisky ” と書かれていますので、ブレンドタイプの８年物とのことです。 それでこの値段は、確かに安いと思います。

で、思い出したのが、以前、当ブログで紹介したアイリッシュ・ウィスキーで、初代アイルランド大統領の名前を冠した “ Hyde ” 、生産量の関係で日本には入って来ていませんでしたが、最近、日本国内で入手出来ることを知りました。 先日、早速、購入しました（まだ、飲んではいませんが）。

マンホールから太ったネズミを救出したドイツの救助隊がヒーローとしてもてはやされています。

Rescuers said the little critter put on a little too much "winter fat" and got stuck in one of the holes in the manhole cover. Several firefighters were called to the scene and were able to free the distressed rodent.
救助隊によると、この小さな生き物は冬の間に太って、マンホールの蓋の穴でスタックしてしまったのでした。 消防隊の何人かが現場に呼ばれました、そして、苦難の齧歯類は自由になることが出来ました。



The story of one town's efforts to save a rat has warmed the hearts of animal lovers across Germany.
A male sewer rat described as having too much "Winterspeck" — which literally translates to "winter bacon" or "winter fat" — found himself in a tricky situation over the weekend.
The rat attempted to crawl out of a manhole cover in the German town of Bensheim on Sunday, but got lodged in one of the holes.
"The rat had quite a lot of winter fat and got stuck on its hips — nothing was going forward and nothing back," animal rescuer Michael Sehr told news agency DPA on Monday.
An animal rescuer with the "Berufstierrettung Rhein Neckar" made an unsuccessful attempt to free the distressed rodent, but ended up calling for backup from the local volunteer fire department in Auerbach, located some 30 kilometers (19 miles) north of Mannheim.
The team of around eight firefighters managed to lift up the heavy manhole cover and the rescuers were able to safely push the rat through the hole. The rat was reportedly unharmed.
"The animal was subsequently released again into the wild. The fire department's operation was completed after a good 25 minutes," the Auerbach fire department said in a statement.

８人ほどの消防隊員によって、重いマンホールの蓋が持ち上げられ、安全に穴から押し出すことが出来ました。 ネズミにケガはありませんでした。
この動物は、最後には自然の下にリリースされました。この消防隊の作業は２５分で済んだのでした。



Pushback over rat extermination programs
The animal rescue group "Berufstierrettung Rhein Neckar" posted pictures of the rescue on Facebook, prompting thousands of reactions on the social media platform and hundreds of comments.
Many praised the actions of the rescuers and fire department, with one user writing: "I think it's great — every creature deserves to be helped."
Other Facebook users pointed out that the move to save the rat seems to run contrary to efforts in other German cities to exterminate the rodents. The western German city of Dortmund has started a campaign to reduce its rat population by placing poisoned bait in the sewers.
Animal rescuer Michael Sehr told news agency DPA that he didn't see a contradiction with saving the rat in Bensheim.
"Even animals that are hated by many people deserve respect," he said.

２０１９年２月２６日（Tue.） ここ数日、少し話題になっていた Horned Owl （フクロウ）の子供、残念ながら死んだ姿で発見されてしまいました。 何とか保護されることを願っていましたが、残念な結果です。 但し、そもそも論で言うならば、こうした動物をペットとして飼うことに無理があると思います。 自然の環境の中で生息する姿が本来のものでしょう。

食品包装に於ける化学物質の規制： デンマークの大臣



Minister for the Environment and Food Jakob Ellemann-Jensen has underlined the need to cut down on packaging containing harmful substances.

The minister’s comments came after the publication of a study on the effect on foetus size of fluorinated compounds in mothers’ blood.

The study, conducted by Aarhus University researchers, concluded that a presence in pregnant women’s blood of the substances, which are found in some types of food packaging as well as in other products, can result in babies being born at a smaller size than normal.

Ellemann-Jensen recently said he would look into the possibility of a national ban on use of the substances in food packaging such as pizza boxes, including whether Denmark would be able to break with EU rules on the area until the European Union changes its own regulation.

“Organic fluorinated compounds, which damage people and the environment, should principally be banned,” the minister said in a written comment to Ritzau.

“I do not know the new study in detail. But my understanding is that it is yet another sign of how problematic these chemicals are, and thereby another reason to continue the Danish battle to regulate them,” he added.

Fluorinated compounds are used in many products, particularly surface treatment including in frying pans, rainproof clothing, shoes, pizza trays and popcorn bags, Ritzau writes.

Previous studies have found the substances to increase risk of miscarriage, obesity and type II diabetes.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in December increased its risk assessment of the two most common fluorinated compounds, PFOS and PFOA.

Researchers said they hope for tighter regulation in the area.

“It is high time that regulation is finally introduced with much-needed regulation, initially of food packaging,” Eva Cecilie Bonefeld-Jørgensen, who worked on the new study, said to Ritzau.

A declaration on all products which contain the compounds is a necessary first step, the researcher said.

Phillippe Grandjean, professor of environmental medicine at the University of Southern Denmark, expressed a similar view.

“Food packaging is just a fraction of the problem. I don’t have much belief in a quick political win through a ban on a limited area. More is needed,” he said to Ritzau.

“The problem became global a long time ago and now affects all of our immune systems,” he said.

フッ素関連に関するこうした認識は全くありませんでした。EUでの規制には時間がかかることかも知れませんが、デンマークは、独自に国内での規制に向かうニュアンスです。

日本では、こうした認識や規制はあるのでしょうか。 何れにしても、フッ素加工のフライパンなどの使用は考え直した方が良いのかも知れませんね。

２０１９年２月２５日（Mon.） 数日前までは雨予報だった今日、コロリと変わってしまって１８・１９℃まで上昇する晴天となってしまいました。 で、予定を変更して、畑に出てジャガイモを植え付ける為の準備をしてきました。 但し、花粉はシッカリ飛んでいる気配なので、マスクで防備しての作業です。 一汗かきました、ハイ。

“Beast from the East” の直訳は、“東からの獣” となりますが、先日来の極寒期間のことを言っていると推測しました。 日本でも、数日ずれていましたが、北海道でマイナス３０℃を記録する異常な状況に陥っていました。 いわゆる “極渦崩壊” の影響でした。 しかし、この真因は、北極の氷の融解によるもので、それは地球温暖化によってもたらされているとEUでは報道されていました。

そして、日本でも今週は４月上旬並みの暖かさであると報道されていますが、単純に喜んでいて良いのでしょうか？ 茹でガエル現象に陥っていませんか？

地球温暖化・気候変動・・・。 “ Fridays For Future” 活動を意識すべきではないでしょうか、アイルランドも日本も。

The 15th consecutive yellow vest protests were relatively peaceful compared to previous weeks. Some 46,000 people nationwide joined the protests, a figure slightly higher than last weekend.

The protests — named after the fluorescent jackets French motorists must carry in their vehicles for emergencies — have generally become smaller since December when there was vandalism and looting in Paris.
Protest organizers have sought to keep momentum behind an increasingly splintered movement and bouts of violence that threatened to tarnish its image.

Originally launched in mid-November against rising fuel prices and the cost of living, the yellow vest protests have since expanded to a broader movement against President Emmanuel Macron's economic policies.
Macron has responded to the protests by rolling back the fuel tax hike and holding debates where officials listen to the public.

Dozens of arrrests
Police said 28 people were arrested in Paris, where protests were mostly peaceful. As they ended, clashes broke out and police fired tear gas at protesters on the Place du Trocadero across the River Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
Another 18 people were also arrested in the central city of Clermont-Ferrand, where 2,500 participated in protests that led to clashes with police. Weapons including baseball bats and gas pistols were among the items seized, police said.
In the western city of Rennes, 18 people were arrested, six police officers slightly injured and six protesters hurt by riot control pellets.
