The ice show was amazing! Johnny Wier really shined during the performance. He isn't only a medalist in ice skating, but he is also a person full of amazing character.
We were able to sit in front row seats at the show. After the finale performance, all of the skaters came out onto the ice to meet with the audience, shakes hands and wave, and say thanks for coming. Yoshimi was really full of energy after the show; it was her first time being able to be so up close during a show. When Johnny Wier came by, she told him that we came from Japan, and how I was an ice skating coach in the past. He asked where in Japan, and when we told him we came from Fukuoka he replied, "I've been there only once before!" He also heard that I was a healer, and said that it was really great and thanked me for doing that type of work. I was pretty surprised from his response! Yoshimi told me later that she looked at him differently now. She said that before she always thought he was quite eccentric, but being Catholic, she realized that he also has a great outlook towards charity events.
One of my previous superiors in figure staking, my teacher Mrs. Inada Etsuko always said, "Medals are just a temporary thing, so its important more to focus on how you live life". Even though Johnny Wier is so young, being such a humanly person is wonderful.
