■ Statement:
In relation to the release of contaminated water into the environment at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, three representatives of Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Plaintiffs has pressed charges against 32 former and current executives of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and TEPCO as a corporation on September 3, 2013 based on Act for the Punishment of Environmental Pollution Crimes relating to Human Health. The three accusers believe TEPCO has committed a crime by failing to respond properly to the nuclear accident ever since the 3.11 meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi, which led to the release of a huge amount of water contaminated with radioactive substances into the ocean. Fukushima Prefectural Police accepted the accusation on October 11, 2013. On December 18, some 5,000 accusers newly joined this move to press charges against TEPCO. They are now prepared to call on Fukushima Prefectural Police to immediately begin criminal investigation (on-site verification and seizure of evidential documents) on TEPCO.
