部屋の扉を開けながら彼は独り言をつぶやいていた。

「ありもしない滑走路の管制塔で戦闘機の着陸を誘導するなんて仕事は初めてだ。バーチャルな管制は見習い士官の時にシミュレーターを使って訓練させられて以来だな。」

「やはり仕事は滑走路の横の高い管制塔でやるのが一番だ。あそこで周りの広い景色をながめながら戦闘機の離着陸をコントロールしていると、小さいながらも世界を支配しているような気分になれるからな------」
