先週の日曜日は私の住んでいる地区の運動会でした。
今年は持ち回りの地区役員の年なので 私も役員としてかり出されました。
The annual sports meeting was held in our community last Sunday.
The community members take it turn to take care of such events.
In my turn this year, I participated as a caretaker.
絶好の秋晴れで 最高の運動会日和でした
Under the splendid fall weather, it was perfect for athletic meets.
懐かしい「玉入れ」"Tama-ire"competition
じじ・ばばから幼児・中学生・茶髪のお兄ちゃんも若いママ・パパも
みんな実に楽しそうに 積極的に参加していたのが印象的でした。
I was struck by the manner in which men and women of all ages were enjoying willingly.
私も走りましたよ！
小学生と組んで３０mを全力疾走！（赤い矢印） ６組中４位.....
参加賞のティッシュ１箱をいただきました。
３０mとは言え全力で走ったのは何十年振りのことです。
数日後の筋肉痛は言わずもがな.....
I also ran 30m at full speed with a primary school boy hand in hand!
The fourth place among six pairs….
I got a box of tissues as a prize for participation.
The running at full speed was for the first time in decades…even though 30meter.
Needless to say, I’m now suffering from muscle pain.
地区の運動会はレクレーションではありますが
普段あまり顔を合わせることの少ない人との交流があって
ある意味重要なセイフティー・ネットの構築の場でもあると思いました。
近所付き合いに限らず 親・兄弟・夫婦・子供・親戚・友人の関係が作り出す
「セイフティー・ネット」の重要性を
ともすると 煩わしさやしがらみを嫌って避けがちであった関係を見直して
ゆるやかな絆を伴うセイフティー・ネットを作る必要性を
今更ではありますがとみに感じた一日でもありました。
This event is not only a recreation but also an opportunity to build up to an important safety net
by mingling with people in the community, I believe.
Interfamilial relationship, friendship and neighboring ties are sometimes viewed negatively as constraints.
But I feel belatedly, those are really substantial as the safety nets for each other.
