On Saturday night after qualifying in Budapest we had a team dinner and we were invited to give a little speech to everyone there. I tried to stay as natural as possible and relax, but I found it tricky! When I speak publicly or on TV I never have so many familiar faces in front (some of them making funny grins!) so a speech to people who work with you is probably more nerve-wracking than interviews with journalists!

I really enjoyed doing it, because it gave me the chance to say thanks to the whole racing team, not only to the mechanics, but everyone, from every department, for all of the efforts this year. They have been working 100% flat-out travelling the world and not seeing their families and friends much.

そして

we were invited 　to give a little speech to everyone there.

呼ばれたんだよ　　　　そこで皆に　ちょっとしたスピーチをするためにね。

I tried　　　　　　 to stay as natural as possible and relax,

僕は頑張ったんだ　　　　　　できるだけ自然にして　リラックスしようとね

but

でも

I found 　it tricky!

解ったんだ　そうするのは変だって！

 

 

 

When I speak publicly or on TV

　　　僕は公的な場や　テレビで話す時、

I never have so many familiar faces in front

お決まりの顔を　そんなに　しないんだ　その前ではね

　　　　　　　　　　　　(some of them making funny grins!)

　　　　　　　　　　　　（時々　　　　おかしな顔になるんだ！）

だから

a speech to people who work with you

そのような仕事の人たちへのスピーチは

　　　                             　　is probably more nerve-wracking  

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　たぶん神経質な物になってるよ  

                                                     than interviews with journalists!

They have been working 100% flat-out

彼らは　　　　ずっと100％全力で働いてくれたんだ

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　travelling the world

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　世界中を転戦しながら

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　and

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　not seeing their families and friends much.

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　家族や友達に ほとんど会うことも無くね。
