"The safety of a nuclear reactor being the first" -- law -- enactment/Reuters (September 26) [ which delays operation extension approval of a nuclear power plant by the U.S. House of Representatives ]
The U.S. postpones the recognition until the nuclear power plant used as the candidate for an application will become just before expiration of an operation period from now on about operation extension approval of the nuclear power plant beyond the operation period of 40, and until a safe situation is grasped in detail.
It was possible to have received extended approval of operation beforehand, before just before [ expiration ] an operation period coming until now.
the "Safety of a nuclear reactor is the first" -- this law named law was enacted in the U.S. House of Representatives on September 26 by the John Tiellnie of the State of Massachusetts, Edward Markey both-countries meeting member (Democratic Party).
Two Diet members say, ", by enactment of this law, the safety of the nuclear power plant which passed through years becomes former more certain."
In the U.S., it is determined that operation of a nuclear reactor is till 40, and it can extend by approval of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a maximum of 60 years.
What the period of 2010 or more is left behind by expiration of an operation period among the nuclear power plants of 13 which is making the extended application of the operation period to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission now amounts to nine sets.
While approval is shelved about these, the examination based on the severer standard also about the four remaining sets will be made.

米下院で原発の稼働延長認可を遅らせる「原子炉の安全が第一」法が成立／ロイター（9月26日）
米国は今後、40年の稼働期間を超えた原発の稼働延長認可について、申請対象となる原発が稼働期間の満了直前となるまで、また安全状況がより詳細に把握されるまで、その承認を延期する。これまでは稼働期間の満了間際になる前からあらかじめ稼働の延長認可を受けることが可能だった。
「原子炉の安全が第一」法と名付けられたこの法律は、9月26日、マサチューセッツ州のジョン・ティエルニーとエドワード・マーキーの両国会議員（民主党）によって米国下院で成立した。2名の国会議員らは「今回の法律の成立により、年月を経た原発の安全性がこれまでより確実になる」と述べている。
米国では原子炉の稼働が40年までと定められており、原子力規制委員会の認可により最大60年まで延長できる。現在原子力規制委員会に稼働期間の延長申請を行っている13の原発のうち、稼働期間の満了までに10年以上の期間が残されているものは9基にのぼる。これらについては認可が見送られるとともに、残りの4基についてもより厳しい規準に基づいた審査がなされることになる。
