Autumn Days 2014

Sometimes I ride on the bus to get to the nursery home my mother lives in from the nearest station.
But I walked whole of the way today. Then I saw the beautiful beads!
Wild grape was grown up coiling with pine tree.Purple, blue, gray, the berries were colorful!
Autumn has come.

One of my friends saw the photos and said "Where did you take them? Somewhere in Europe?"
I answered "No! No! In Osaka. Near by my residence."

Hot Sweets

This is Zenzai, one of Japanese hot sweets.
Zenzai soup is made from Azuki(small red bean), sugar, water and a pinch of salt.
This is sweet food though adding a little salt is important.
Salt makes it more sweet! Is it interesting?
Put baked Mochi(rice cake) in the soup and let's have it with green tea!



"Yaki-imo" is one of traditional hot sweets in Japan.
I like sweet potato called Beniharuka.
First, scrub sweet potatoes and rinse them in salted water for over 30min.
Don't peel them!
Next, wrap them individually with aluminum foil.
And then I bake them in fish roaster for 30 or 40min.
Of course you can oven bake them.

Christmas Season

Yuzu-orange marmalade is one of what reminds me winter. It has good smell indeed.

The Gate of Winter

Glittering snow comes down to the silver Christmas tree!

It's getting cold day by day.
Wow! It seems a sentence in a junior high school textbook!
By the way it's cold enough as this season.
Therefore, hot vegetable soup made me happy.
I added navy bean which a friend of mine in U.S. Gave me.

Domestic Autumn

Clam chowder is common as you know.
But I sometimes make oyster chowder in winter.
The dish is very easy to cook and tasty.
All of my family like it!



I have a cherry tree at the corner of balcony in my home.
It's too small but I'm sure it's a cherry tree.
It had no blossom in spring but it's colored in autumn.
Oh my little baby!

My daughter is dinning out with her friends now.
It was easy to cock pasta for two.
Oil pasta with tuna, Eringi-mushroom, Komatsuna which is one of Japanese green vegetables similar to spinach.

I baked sweet potato & apple pie this afternoon.
I usually bake pumpkin pie in autumn.
But my husband told me to bake other one for instance sweet potato pie or something.
OK!
I added apple because I thought the pie with only sweet potato isn't beautiful so much.
Moreover I put raisin on it.

No! It's a discount supermarket "Tamade玉出".
There are some neon lights in the store as well.

My daughter is in dinning out now.
So I have dinner with only my husband.
If she were at home, we'd have Kimuchi Nabe.
Curry rice with pumpkin and Daikon-radish salad are good for us.

Autumn

This is rice field near by Osaka air port which isn't Kan-ku.
There are some pinwheels instead of scarecrows for the purpose of protecting rice from birds like crows.
They are made of empty cans.
I think they are ecological craft works. The farmers are artists!



The beautiful sunset is my treasure.

Pasta & Bread

It was very fine with beautiful autumnal cloud.
I went to museum to see the original paintings of picture books with my family.
We go there annually.
The dinner was pasta with clams. Sep.22



Butter bread with raisin and apple!
I don't like to bake butter bread in summer because making dough is almost pottery.
It has been cool day by day.
Let's bake butter bread! Sep.23

Holiday Cooking

18th typhoon is coming to Japan main land now.
It rains too much. We have many rainy days in this autumn.
I can't go out anywhere in spite of holidays.
That's why I baked bread this afternoon.
The bread is rather brown because I chose brown sugar.
I rolled raisin in it and put on cinnamon sugar on it.

It's a little cool as September today.
Since I wanted to have hot meal, I cooked vegetable soup.
It tasted good!
Onion, carrot, cabbage, potato, yellow paprika, tomato and bacon. Sep.15




What a stormy morning I had today!
It was fine before noon in a part of Osaka.
I went shopping and I bought some figs to make jam. Sep.16
