Le CHÂTEAU LA CABANNE est un vignoble de 10 hectares situé sur les graves du versant Ouest de la Haute-Terrasse au centre géographique de Pomerol.
On y cultive la vigne depuis l'époque gallo-romaine, mais l'origine du nom qui est aussi un lieu-dit remonte au XIVème siècle où l'on voyait ça et là des cabanes isolées, domiciles des serfs et des colons.
Le sol argilo-graveleux à sous-sol de mâchefer (concrétion de sable et de fer) et l'encépagement (92 % Merlot - 8 % Cabernet Franc) donnent, après cuvaison d'une vingtaine de jours et vieillissement en fûts merrains neufs (bois de chêne fendu non scié), un vin coloré de teintes de cerises bien mûres (caractéristiques des vins à dominante de merlots) avec des reflets noirs présentant des nuances fauves au vieillissement.
C'est un vin au nez puissant et délicat, aux notes confites d'abricots et de gibiers, à l'attaque soutenue et charnue, dont le bouquet et la finesse s'allient harmonieusement à un corps puissant.
Le CHÂTEAU LA CABANNE produit un deuxième cru, le DOMAINE DE COMPOSTELLE, excellent vin au nez puissant, qui, tout en gardant sa capacité de vieillir, peut être dégusté rapidement.

CHÂTEAU LA CABANNE IS A 10 hectares (25 acres) vineyard which is located on the gravely soil of the west side of the "high terrace" in the heart of Pomerol.
Vines have been grown there since the gallo-roman period, but the property's name, which is also that of a "lieu-dit" (place name), goes back to the 14th century when the sharecropper's serfs lived in "cabanes" (huts).
The gravely clay soil on a subsoil of scoria (concretion of sand and iron) and the grapes varieties (92 % Merlot - 8 % Cabernet Franc) give, after around 20 days in vats and aging in new oak casks (oak which is split and not sawn), a wine with a color of very ripe cherries (characteristic of wines with a dominance of Merlot) with black tints showing shades of fawn during aging.
This wine is powerful and delicate on the nose, with hint of candied apricot and game ; it starts out forceful and rich on the palate. It also has a great deal of finesse which complements the wine's vigor admirably.
CHÂTEAU LA CABANNE also produces a second wine : DOMAINE DE COMPOSTELLE which, while keeping its capacity for aging, can be drank sooner.

液漏れ：液漏れちょっとあるようす。一部分上まで染みていましたが、コルクの上部には色がついていませんでした。
グラス：リーデルボルドータイプを使用。
色：比較的濃いめのガーネット。
エッジ：エッジは比較的しっかり、ややオレンジ色。
脚：普通の脚
ディスク：さほど厚くないです。
香り：香りはさほど強くわりません。腐葉土、キノコの熟成香。スワリングでちょっと酵母っぽい感じ。微かにインクというか、果実香を感じますが、程遠いかなた。
タンニン：タンニンとしての渋みはありません。
味：こちらも、枯れた、というか、腐葉土感がメイン。若干の苦味もありますか？ 時間を置いても開いてくることなく終わってしまいました。
