What is Bullying?
If someone keeps doing or saying things in order to have power over another person, it is BULLYING. They bully other people by saying or writing nasty things about them, leaving them out of activities, not talking to them, threatening them, making them feel uncomfortable or scared, taking or damaging their things, hitting or kicking them, or making them do things they don't want to do.
In fact, bullying is a common experience for many children and adolescents. Some surveys indicate that as many as half of all children are bullied at some time during their school years, and at least 10% are bullied on a regular basis!
These days, children are reluctant to tell their parents or teachers about bullying and some hang themselves to escape from it. What a cruel tragedy !!

Bullying in Japan
In many bullying cases in Japan, the victims leave school and bullies fully enjoy their school lives as if nothing had happened. This is not fair. I think tormentors should be sent to a special school so that they can reform themselves.
Generally speaking, Japanese people hate being different from others and keep strangers at a distance. Unfortunately, many bullied children do not have good social skills to cope with others and tend to behave differently. As a result, peole unconsciously accuse the casualties of their weakness, clumsiness or loneliness, saying "Bullying is everywhere, so you should be stronger to survive !"
Instead, if we see someone else being bullied, we should always try to stop it. If we do nothing, we are ACTIVELY involved in bullying !
