It seems warm for winter of this year compared with an ordinary year, but still there aren't few people who wore a mask in a town. When I'm going to meet a season of a real cold, it's doctor's cold measure to become the topic of conversation on the net.

例年に比べて今年の冬は暖かいようだが、それでも街にはマスクをかけた人が少なくない。本格的な風邪の季節を迎えようとしている折、ネット上で話題になっているのが医者の風邪対策だ。
ある調査によると、勤務医のうち風邪の際に薬を「必ず服用する」と答えたのはわずか13%という。薬に頼るよりも自然の治癒力で風邪を撃退するほうが効果的というのだが、これって正しい選択なのか。
「風邪の予防や治療に風邪薬が効くというのは単なる気休め。たとえ医者に処方された薬でもそれほど効きません」と言うのは医学博士の米山公啓氏だ。風邪の治療法には“常識のウソ”が存在するのである。
「風邪をひいたら薬を飲めばいいという考えがまず間違い。それよりも仕事を休むことが重要です。体が風邪のウイルスと闘っているため、睡眠をたっぷり取って免疫力を高めたほうが回復は早いのです。食欲があれば食事を取る。その場合、ごはんやパンなどのでんぷん質のほうが免疫力のエネルギーになります」
昔から、卵酒やショウガ、ビタミンCなどを取れば回復が早いといわれるが、これは根拠がないそうだ。
「大切なのは体を温めること。体が冷えると免疫力が落ち、体内でウイルスが増殖してしまうからです。日本では風邪をひいたら風呂に入るなといいますが、これは俗説にすぎません。むしろ入浴で体を温め、そのまま布団に入ったほうが治りが早い。高熱で苦しいときは解熱剤が効きますが、そけい部や脇の下、首などを冷やすのも効果的。会社を休み、“これで治る”と自分に言い聞かせることで風邪を治す人もいます。気持ちを前向きにすることで免疫力を高めているのです。ストレスを抱えたままでは、なかなか治りません」(米山公啓氏)
