京都の島原の司太夫さんのおはなしどすえ。

初めまして。
司と申します。京都の花街（はなまち）、島原で太夫をしております。太夫、知っといやすか。新撰組の小説などで島原の場面になると、時々お座敷で、華麗な舞を披露します。歴史好きの方ならピンときはるかもしれまへんえ。
祇園などの舞こや芸こはご存知でも、太夫はご存知ない方も多いと思います。
島原は一五八九年、日本初の公許花街として誕生しました。
太夫は舞こ、芸こ同様、芸を売りますが、正五位の官位を与えられ、帝にも接見を許されました。それだけに舞、茶道、楽器、書道、俳句などの諸芸に通じる必要がありました。
今は舞こと違うて仕込み期間がおへん。舞こは未熟さが愛らしさになりますが、太夫はデビューの時点で芸が完成していなければなりません。
京都の花街のことを「五花街」（ごかがい）と言います。
祇園甲部、先斗町、上七軒、宮川町、祇園東ですが、昔は島原を入れて「六花街」言うてました。
祇園も知ってるうちとしては、今の島原の状態はつろおす。再び「六花街」と呼ばれるようにがんばらなあきまへん。
これからも島原を、そして太夫を、よろしゅうおたのもうします。

あっ、もうひとつ太夫とおいらんを混同されてる方が多いこともつろおした。もちろんおいらんも日本の立派な伝統文化。ただ、高級しょう婦だったおいらんと違い、島原の太夫は磨き上げた芸で生きる、芸この最高峰どす。

２つの森のあいだに50mくらいの池というか淵が道に沿ってあり、昼間は子どもたちがおたましゃくしを取ったりしているが、夜、淵の端のところに案内板がありその上7mくらいのところに暗い街灯があり、5m四方をボーっと照らしている。大人でも、夜10時過ぎにここを通るのは気味が悪い。良いこともある、それはちょうど去年のいまくらいのとき、辺りは梅雨のはじめで、うす暗い中20mくらいしか見えないような-もや-がかかり、そこにボーっと例の街灯がその辺りを照らしていた。あっ！ これは「ねこバス」の世界だと。

きょうはねこバスではない。
淵のほとりを歩いていると、草むらの中で何かごそごそわたしの後をつけてくるような物体を感じた。
25cmくらいのでっかいひきがえるだ。
