東京ｵﾘﾝﾋﾟｯｸが開催された1964年にﾘﾘｰｽされ坂本九が歌い､大ﾋｯﾄした､幸せなら手をたたこう は早稲田大学人間科学部名誉教授の木村利人さんが学生時代､1954年ﾌｨﾘﾋﾟﾝでﾎﾞﾗﾝﾃｨｱ活動をしていた際に現地の子どもたちが歌うｽﾍﾟｲﾝ民謡のﾒﾛﾃﾞｨｰにしこれに詞をつけたものが元になっていると言われています。ほかにﾙｰﾂには､If You're Happy and You Know Itがｱﾒﾘｶ民謡説としてはありますが1971年に著作権の申請がされており、後に英訳された可能性があります。さらに調べて見ましたが具体的な曲名は見つけれませんでした。また、1938年のｿ連映画"Volga-Volga"登場のMolodejnayaと言う曲との説もありますが､あまり類似点は見出せません。

ｽﾞﾊﾞﾘ、このﾙｰﾂと思われるのが以前から聞いていた1962年ﾘﾘｰｽ、The Travelers ３のｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Open House"に収録のJohny With The Brandy Leggsと言う曲です。いわば、ｱﾒﾘｶ民謡説、むしろ南ｱﾌﾘｶ民謡説と言った方がいいかもしれません。曲の前半部はまさに幸せなら手をたたこうそのまま､後半は南ｱﾌﾘｶの民謡､ｱﾌﾘｶｰﾝ語でVat jou goed en trek Ferreira（訳 ；世話をしてﾌｪﾚｲﾗになる）のﾒﾛﾃﾞｨｰの構成となっています。実際､曲を聴き確認してみてください。最初は､1949年に南ｱﾌﾘｶ出身のﾃﾞｭｵで、二次大戦後､英国や米国で活動したMarais And Miranda（ﾏﾚｰとﾐﾗﾝﾀﾞ）がｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Songs Of Many Lands”の中で紹介されています。そして､1962年にThe Highwaymenはｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ　"Standing Room Only!"に､1965年にKaren Oxley And Jubilee Singers（ｶﾚﾝ･ｵｸｽﾘｰとｼﾞｭﾋﾞﾘｰ・ｼﾝｶﾞｰｽﾞ）はｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ　"Singalong Jubilee Vol. II"に曲を収録しました。
