Glen Campbell & Bobbie Gentry -1969The Everly Brothersの1960年､ｼﾝｸﾞﾙA面としてLet It Be Meはﾘﾘｰｽされました。同年のﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞHot100で7位を記録､世界的に広まりました。1968年ﾘﾘｰｽされた､Bobbie GentryとGlen Campbellのﾃﾞｭｴｯﾄ･ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell”はCountry Albums部門1位､ｺﾞｰﾙﾄﾞ･ﾃﾞｨｽｸを受賞しました。このｱﾙﾊﾞﾑからｼﾝｸﾞﾙ･ｶｯﾄされたLet It Be Meは､翌1969年､ﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞHot100の36位､英国ﾄｯﾌﾟ40の3位を記録しました。曲はこのﾋｯﾄによりﾃﾞｭｴｯﾄ曲として確立されました。Andy Williamsも1964年ﾐﾘｵﾝｾﾗｰ（ｺﾞｰﾙﾄﾞ･ﾃﾞｨｽｸ）となったｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ"The Wonderful World of Andy Williams"をﾘﾘｰｽ､曲を収録しました。そして､1969年10月放映のAndy Williams ShowではClaudine Longet（ｸﾛﾃﾞｨｰﾇ･ﾛﾝｼﾞｪ 〉とのﾃﾞｭｴｯﾄで歌っています。日本でも竹内ﾏﾘｱが2008年ﾘﾘｰｽのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ"Expressions”の中でご主人の山下達郎とのﾃﾞｭｴｯﾄで収録されています。

原曲は1955年､Gilbert Becaud（ｼﾞﾙﾍﾞｰﾙ･ﾍﾞｺｰが作曲し､Pierre Delanoë(ﾋﾟｴｰﾙ･ﾄﾞﾗﾉｴ)が作詞したJe t'appartiens（神の思いのままに）というﾌﾗﾝｽ語の曲です。発表してから2年後の1957年､CBS放送のTVﾄﾞﾗﾏ『Climax!』の中で､Jill Corey（ｼﾞﾙ･ｺｰﾘｰ）かﾞLet It Be Meというﾀｲﾄﾙで発表､これが英語ﾊﾞｰｼﾞｮﾝのｵﾘｼﾞﾅﾙとなりました。英語詞を書いたのはManny Kurtz(ﾏﾆｰ･ｶｰﾃｨｽ）です。Bob Dylanは1970年ﾘﾘｰｽのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ "Self Portrait”に収録しています。

20年ほど前､我々は岐阜市で3年ほど連続で岐阜のﾛｯｸﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞ､ﾌﾞﾙｰｸﾞﾗｽﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞ､そして､我々の学生時代の仲間であったｽｸｰﾅｰｽﾞと４バンドで定期演奏会を開催していました。その頃はＭＦＱに凝っており､この曲を取り上げました。しかし､歌ったのは一度のｽﾃｰｼﾞだけ､それ以降は歌われていない幻のﾚﾊﾟｰﾄﾘｰです。曲は日本船舶振興会（現･日本財団）'90ｷｬﾝﾍﾟｰﾝｿﾝｸﾞで1993年､TVｺﾏｰｼｬﾙとして流れていました。作詞･ｽｰｼﾞｰ･K・ｷﾑ 作曲・三井誠です。

Kisses Sweeter Than Wine (ﾜｲﾝより甘いｷｽ）は､The Weaversにより1950年に書かれたLove Songです。1951年のにｼﾝｸﾞﾙがﾘﾘｰｽされ､同年ﾉﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞで19位､ｷｬｼｭ･ﾎﾞｯｸｽでは20位を記録しました。1957年に、Jimmie Rodgers（ｼﾞﾐｰ･ﾛｼﾞｬｰｽ)､Frankie Vaughan（ﾌﾗﾝｷ･ﾎﾞｰﾝ）がｼﾝｸﾞﾙをﾘﾘ-ｽ､Jimmie RodgersはﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞのTop10入りり、Frankie Vaughanは英国Popﾋｯﾄ･ﾁｬｰﾄ8位を記録しました。なお､動画ではJimmie Rodgersは珍しくﾃﾅｰ･ｷﾞﾀｰを弾いています。転調がある曲なので指のﾎﾟｼﾞｼｮﾆﾝｸﾞの楽なｵｰﾌﾟﾝ･ﾁｭｰﾆﾝｸﾞです。ほとんど､親指でﾊﾞｰ押えで演奏してます。

原曲は農夫と彼の死んだ牛について歌った伝統的なｱｲﾙﾗﾝﾄﾞの民謡Drimmin Downです。1937年､Leadbelly(ﾚｯﾄﾞﾍﾞﾘｰ）により曲をﾘｽﾞﾐｶﾙに改作され､If it wasn't for Dicky（訳/それがﾛﾊﾞのためでないならば）として記録されました。そして､もちろん12弦ｷﾞﾀｰの演奏で歌っています。合唱隊と対戦しました。また､Peter,Paul＆Maryは1966年ﾘﾘｰｽのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Album "､Andy Williams は1967年ﾘﾘｰｽのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ” Love,Andy”に収録されました。

この曲は、John Denver の作品です。彼の４作目､The Mitchell Trio(ﾐｯﾁｪﾙ･ﾄﾘｵ)と最初に書いたもので､他のﾐｭｰｼﾞｼｬﾝによってﾚｺｰﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞされた最初の曲です。それは､The Mitchell Trio とPeter,Paul＆Maryに提供されました。。
