女性ジャズ・ヴォーカルの大御所エラ・フィッツジェラルドのアルバムの中でも
意外と知られていない作品ではなかろうか。
本作品はエラのキャピトル時代の吹き込みで、
36曲ものスタンダードをエラがメドレーで歌ったもの。
アルバムは6つのセッションで構成されており、
各セッションに6曲づつのメドレーが収録されている。
そしてこのメドレーがまるで1曲のように聴こえてくる程良い出来なのだ。
これはアレンジを担当したベニー・カーターの力量による処が大きいように思える。
バックのミュージシャンは、トランペットにハリー・スウィート・エジソン、
アルトにベニー・カーター、ギターにジョン・コリンズなど中々のメンバーが揃っている。
曲により彼等のソロも楽しめるご機嫌なアルバムである。
尚、再発されているCDは現在輸入盤で比較的安価で入手出来、
ボーナス・トラックが1曲追加されている。
