「 El Paso 」は、米国のｼﾝｶﾞｰ･ｿﾝｸﾞﾗｲﾀｰのMarty Robbins(ﾏｰﾃｨ･ﾛﾋﾞﾝｽ)が作曲、最初に録音したｶﾝﾄﾘｰとｳｴｽﾀﾝ･ﾊﾞﾗｯﾄﾞです。『El Paso（ｴﾙﾊﾟｿ、ｽﾍﾟｲﾝ語で「峠」の意）』は、米国ﾃｷｻｽ州最西端に位置する都市です。『Rosa's cantin』はｴﾙﾊﾟｿにあるﾚｽﾄﾗﾝです。歌詞はあるｶｳﾎﾞｰｲが西ﾃｷｻｽの町､ｴﾙﾊﾟｿでﾒｷｼｺの女の子ﾌｪﾘｰﾅに恋をした。ある夜､ﾗｲﾊﾞﾙが現れ決闘をすることtなる。勝利したものの追われの身となり彼らのﾗｲﾌﾙの射撃を受け､ﾌｪﾘｰﾅの両腕に抱かれて死んでいくというｽﾄｰﾘｰです。1959年､ｼﾝｸﾞﾘﾘｰｽされ、ｶﾝﾄﾘｰ､ﾎﾟｯﾌﾟ･ﾐｭｰｼﾞｯｸ部門で大ﾋｯﾄしました。1960年の初めに両部門で1 位を記録しました。 また､1961年にｸﾞﾗﾐｰ賞のﾍﾞｽﾄｶﾝﾄﾘｰ&ｳｴｽﾀﾝﾚｺｰﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞ賞も受賞し、彼の最も有名な曲となっています。
1960年､Lolita & das Western Trio（ﾛﾘｰﾀとｳｴｽﾀﾝﾄﾘｵ）はｼﾝｸﾞﾙをﾘﾘｰｽ､1963年､The Brothers Fourはｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”The Big Folk Hits” に2000年､米国のﾛｯｸ・ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞ､The Grateful Dead.（ｸﾞﾚｲﾄﾌﾙ･ﾃﾞｯﾄﾞ）はｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Ladies And Gentlemen” に2006年､米国のｶﾝﾄﾘｰ・ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞOld 97'sはｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ ”Hit By A Train”に曲を収録しています。
