We are going to leave New York City this morning.

I am sure every student learned a lot of things through this study tour.

I also learned various things myself.

Next time I come back to New York, I would like to bring my family with me.

We are in New York City now.

Yesterday, we came down to New York City.

We went to World Trade Center site, Battery Park, 5th Avenue, Times Squre, and took a ferry to Staten Island.

We walked a lot.

The students are exited to see the sites which they saw in the films and on TV.

We do sightseeing today too.

We had a wonderful time here in Kingston and Stone Ridge.

Two moons on August 27th ?

I do not know if it is true or not, but one of my friends shared this information with me.
I do not know if this phenomenon can be seen in Japan or not either.
I will try to take pictures of the two moons if possible.

27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.............

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles off earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons.

The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

I have been sooooo busy.

I have been so busy taking care of the students, translating the explanation in the visits, meeting with faculty members of SUNY Ulster, calling my friends to get things done, and so forth.

But at the same time, I am happy to see happy faces and voices of the students, getting to know new friends, having English conversation with local people, buying things for my family and friends, experiencing new things and so on.

We have two more days in Kingston, and after that we are coming down to New York City.

First Day of the Study Week

It is Monday today, and it is the first day of the study week.

We went to SUNY Ulster this morning.

The students took their first English lessons today.

I was in their classroom in earlier part of the lesson, but later I left the room and walked around the campus.


Our original plan for the evening was to go up to Mohonk but it was rained out. Instead we went shopping in a shopping mall.
I have bought things from my wife`s shopping list.

In the evening, one of our friends from New Paltz came to visit us.
We had supper with her.

I am in Kingston now.

Hello again.
My students and I are in Kingston right now.
We had a rainy day today.
It rained heavily.
We spent today with our host families and left New Paltz at 4 pm for Kingston.
We are going to stay in Holiday Inn Kingston this week and the students will learn at SUNY Ulster.

I do not why, but I cannot copy and paste on one of the computers in the business center of this hotel, so I am writing in English.

I will try another computer later to see if I can copy and paste my Japanese diary into this blog.

I am in America now.

I am in New Paltz Village, a sister city of Niimi City, taking a group of students to Niimi College Study tour to America.

I will post a longer note later.

旅の支度。

いつもぎりぎりです。

前日になって荷物をあわてて詰めて行きます。

幸いなことにあまり大きな忘れ物はこれまでにありません。
　
旅と言っても出張が多いので、出張中にできる仕事を考えて持っていくのも大切な準備です。

新見公立大学・短期大学ミニオープンキャンパス実施

先日予告をしたように（↓)、本日(8月18日)、新見公立大学・短期大学のミニオープンキャンパスを実施しました。

新見公立大学・短期大学のミニオープンキャンパス

7月19日のオープンキャンパスほどではないにしても、多くの高校生やその保護者・家族などが本学を訪れてくれました。

本学のことを気に入ってくれたらいいなあと思います。

これで、今年度のオープンキャンパス、ミニオープンキャンパスは終了しました。
あとは、本学を見学したい受験生の皆さんは、学校見学を随時受け付けています。
土・日曜日・祝日は対応できませんが、それ以外でしたら、本学の教職員が応対いたします。
ご希望者がいらっしゃいましたら、新見公立大学・短期大学まで、よろしくお願いいたします。

国際運転免許取得

この度、アメリカ研修の引率に先立って、国際運転免許を取得しました。

でも基本的には、運転するつもりはありません。

万一、運転しなければならないときに備えて一応持っておくためのものです。

僕は、海外渡航経験は割と多いですが、外国での運転経験はあまり多くありません。

慣れないところで車に乗るのは(特にアメリカでは左ハンドルで右側通行)、どうしても車でなければ行きにくい場合に限っています。

でも、いつかやってみたいのは、アメリカのマザーロードであるルート66を車でのんびりと走破すること。

いつか、夏休み期間中ずっとアメリカに行けるようなときが来たら(そんな時が来るのかなあ？)、ぜひその夢を叶えてみたいと思います。

ニューカレドニアの魚を見る

先日、行った岡山天満屋で開催されている「ニューカレドニアと南の海の水族館」

息子がまだ赤ちゃんだった頃見たことがありますが、今年は幼稚園で園児への招待券をいただいたので、見に行って見ました。

以前、玉野の水族館でも魚を喜んで見たり、海の生き物をさわってみるコーナーでは喜んで触っていた息子。

この水族館展でも、触ってみるコーナーではとても喜んで、ヒトデやサザエや名前がわからないけど大きい貝など触っていました。


トゲトゲで痛そうなので、最初は触らないと言っていたウニも、「父さんはウニが好きなんだぞ(食べるのがですけど…)」と言ったら、飼育員のお姉さんにも励まされながら頑張って触っていました。

さんご礁の再現もあり、なかなかきれいでした。


いったん、出口まで来たのですが、やっぱりもう一回触るコーナーに行きたいということで、引き返して、またヒトデやサザエやウニを触っていました。

と、男二人が魚介類と戯れている間、別行動の妻はお買い物。
今度、僕がアメリカ研修旅行でお世話になる方々へのお土産などを選定してくれました。

夕食は、息子が「おすしをたべたい。だってまわるからたのしいからだよ」とのことで、回転寿司。

僕はもちろん大好きなウニなどを食べました。
