「Katie Cruel」はｽｺｯﾄﾗﾝﾄﾞ起源の米国のﾄﾗﾃﾞｨｼｮﾅﾙ･ﾌｫｰｸｿﾝｸﾞで､ｱﾒﾘｶ独立戦争（1775～83年）時代のものと言われています。。伝統的な歌として、多くのﾐｭｰｼﾞｼｬﾝによって録音されていますが、歌の最も有名な録音は

Karen Daltonの1971年｡ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”In My Own Time”によるものです。そして、Peggy Seegerは1954年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ "Songs of Courting and Complaint"　にThe New Christy Minstrels(ﾆｭｰ･ｸﾘｽﾃｨｰｽﾄﾚﾙｽﾞ）は1964年､ｼﾝｸﾞﾙ「Today」　のＢ面に英国のﾌｫｰｸ･ﾛｯｸ歌手､Linda Thompson（ﾘﾝﾀﾞ･ﾄﾝﾌﾟｿﾝ）は2007年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ ”Versatile Heart”にThe Tuttles With  A.J. Lee（AJﾘｰとﾀﾄﾙｽﾞ）は2010年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ” Introducing The Tuttles With A.J. Lee”に曲を収録しています。
