Monster dog is a guradian of Japanese shrine. So people stand the two stone dog images before the main structure. This is the left side one. A puppy and its mother. The right side one is the father who plays a foot ball.

This relief is the scene of an historical hero who got a certification of the fighting arts of long-nosed goblin of Kurama valley in Kyoto. After then this young boy became a general of the Kanto warriors and defeated the Kyoto warrior gouvernment. After the glorious victories, he was beguilled by an ex-king of Kyoto to be exiled from the Kanto warriers which was controled by his eldest brother who would establish the new worrior gouvernment at Kamakura. The hero escaped to the northern Fujiwara kingdom. The brother sent his soldiers to the north to perish him and the northern kingdom. Japanese love this hero very much.
