本作の原題Untraceableは「追跡不可能」の意。「ブラックサイト」とは、おそらく和製英語なのでしょうが、この邦題はわかりやすいですね。「traceability」トレーサビリティと言えば、「追跡可能性 / 履歴追跡」のことで、「一般には工業製品や食品、医薬品などの商品・製品や部品、素材などを個別（個体）ないしはロットごとに識別して、調達・加工・生産・流通・販売・廃棄などにまたがって履歴情報を参照できるようにすること、またはそれを実現する制度やシステム」。
現代はまさにトレーサビリティ社会。最近の映画によく使われる犯人やターゲットを、ITツールを駆使して追跡する話は、サスペンスものの主流になっています。また、インターネット社会では、本作にあるような映像配信が、世界中に一瞬にして広がります。そして、untraceableなサイト製作はハッカーたちの技術の見せ所。この三つの要素を一つのストーリーにしたのが本作のポイント。
一昨日のノーベル物理学賞に、素粒子の理論で先駆的な役割を果たしたことが評価され、益川敏英氏、小林誠氏、南部陽一郎氏ら、三人の日本人が輝いたことが報じられましたね。そして、昨日報じられたのがノーベル化学賞に決まった下村脩さん（80）。「わたしがやったことは（受賞理由となった）緑色蛍光たんぱく質（GFP）を発見したことだけ。（共同受賞者の）チャルフィーがそれが役に立つものだということを見つけ、チェンが改良した」と語る下村さんの発見は、まさにトレーサビリティで医学、生物学へも大いに貢献するものでした。
