中国が米国を２０１５年までに追い抜いて最大の貿易国になるが、２０５０年には、インドが米国を抜いて２位になるだろう、と。
こういうのはどれくらいあたるのかわからないが、経済的にアジア地域に重心が移ってくるのはたしか。
日本としては、それを踏まえた上で、安全保障の面でどうバランスをとっていくか、が問題。

現在の太陽光発電の余剰分だけでなく、風力や地熱なども含めた再生可能エネルギーによる発電を全量買い取る。その負担は電気料金に上乗せして回収するというのが、この法案の内容で、これにより太陽光や風力などでの発電が事業化できる。
ただ、この法案の閣議決定は震災直前の３月１１日午前のことだった。震災後、原発が相次いで停止し、石油や天然ガスなどでの発電に切り替わり、その分、電気料金の水準が上がるということを想定していない。
脱原発を決定したドイツは、発電の半分を安い石炭に頼っている。日本の発電で石炭火力の比率は低いものの、地球環境問題を考えると、石炭火力をどんどん増やすわけにもいかないという事情もある。ドイツとは状況が異なっている点をきちんととらえ、電力料金の産業に与える影響も十分に考える必要がある。
また、太陽光や風力による電力は不安定なため、導入量は電力ネットワークの規模に左右される。被災地の東北は風力発電に適しているが、東北電力の規模はそれほど大きくない。電力会社の垣根を越えた広域での発電と送電網の運用で、吸収できる量を増やすべきだ。
電力会社以外の発電事業者も、電力会社の送電線を利用せざるを得ないが、送電線を借用する条件と料金を改め、電源の分散化につながる仕組みにしたい。

TOKYO―The Japanese government's recommendation this week that the nation consider mandatory quotas to get more women into public office underscores the lack of progress made in its efforts to match the rest of the developed world in putting women in leadership positions.

While nearly one-in-ten Americans are seeking unemployment benefit applicants, one-in-one hundred are dollar millionaires. When coupled with the 282,000 millionaires in Canada, this elite ― and alarmingly large ― group of North Americans have a total of nearly $43 trillion in their bank accounts.

Asian nations are on the rise with world trade, a new report says, and emerging markets in the east are expected to overcome advanced economies by the middle of the century.
A report release by Citi today projects that world trade internationally will grow to ten times what it was last year by 2050. It is expected to hit around $149 trillion in 2030 and $371 trillion in 2050.
Citi expects China to overtake the US to become the world’s largest trader by 2015 and will remain there until at least 2050, they predict.
The big surprise, however, is that India ― not even in the top 10 of the largest world traders today ― will make a leap towards the top. The report predicts that India will be the world’s second largest trader by 2050, knocking America down to third place.

That, as any schoolboy knows, is when tribes invading from northern Europe pillaged and raped their way across England in their hordes, before settling down to the English way of life. And what the geneticists from University College in London have shown, is that they left their mark on us ― indelibly.
It’s almost as if the Germans are getting the last laugh after losing two World Wars and one World Cup.
Could it be that thanks to our common Anglo-Saxon ancestry, they fit in far better than the Australians, who spend their time in Britain moaning about how they wish they were back in Oz?
The Germans just seem to come here and fit in without any nonsense ― and they don’t rape or pillage any more.

Rumors that migrants attempting to cross the border illegally are the source of Arizona’s wildfires are spreading like, well, wildfire.
Never shy about fanning the flames of extremism, Fox News yesterday ran a surveillance photo, created on June 12 by Glenn Spencer, racist head of the anti-immigrant hate group American Border Patrol (described by Fox as an “independent organization that monitors the border”). The photo ran alongside a story quoting an Arizona sheriff who claimed without evidence that the “highest probability” is that a massive wildfire near the Coronado National Forest was started by foreign drug traffickers or smugglers bringing immigrants across the border.
“There’s really only one likely source of this fire and that’s someone who was moving through the area illegally,” Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever – who characterized Spencer’s graphic as an “accurate picture” of the inferno’s origin – told Fox. “It’s evidence of illegal trafficking. It’s the result of illegal activity any way you look at it. It wasn’t naturally caused,” he continued. “This has been going on for years. I’d ask anyone to present me another logical explanation.”
(As a matter of fact, someone already has. Speaking at a Coronado-area community meeting late last month, Bill Edwards, lead ranger at the Coronado National Forest, said that American citizens started four other wildfires in the same region, the New York Times reported. A rancher started one when sparks flew off his welding equipment; target shooters caused another; and two were set by military aircraft conducting training exercises.)
