今宵はハロウィン
ハロウィンとは全く関係ない今夜のメニュー。
夕飯が一人きりなので冷蔵庫にあるお野菜を煮込んで 『すいとん』 を作りました。

アルバムには全２４曲のうち１３曲の “バート・バカラック＆ハル・デヴィッド” のカバーが収録されています。
『The Look of Love』や『Walk on By』は盤石だし、珠玉の名曲『Alfie』も大好きですが
『Are You There』 は特に良いんです。
徐々に曲のスピード感が増していくような、コーラスとドラムの高揚感。
東洋的な曲の終わり方が面白い。
特に中盤の盛り上がり方が大好きです。
ところがどっこい。
歌詞は胸躍るアレンジとは雰囲気が違います。
“Are you there with another girl?” 他の娘がそこにいるの？（← 残念ながらいるんでしょうな。この場合
） 山下達郎さんが恋愛観についての質問を受けて
「思春期に、バート・バカラック＆ハル・デヴィッドの作るような曲を聴いていたせいか、恋愛観はペシミスティック（悲観的）かも知れない」
以前何処かで読んだのですが、その通りかも。
ハル・デヴィッドの詞は、切なさを表現したものが多いです。
