日乗 diary - 二月三日は豆まき 3rd of February, we do bean-scattering ceremony for being happy through the year

昨日は夜になってから、豆まきをした。ベランダに出て、夜に向かって豆をまいていたら、そこに猫がいた。

猫は突然窓を開けてヒトが出てきて、何やらをまいているので驚いていた。しかしすぐに少し距離を取った場所で落ち着くと、こちらを向いてヒトを見ていた。

夜の影に染まっているので何色のどの模様の猫か分からない。豆をまきつづけるヒトをじっと見ている。

猫は自分が食べられるモノかもしれないと、測っていたのかもしれない。でもヒトがまいていたのは、節分の豆まき用の乾燥した大豆であった。

何十年と節分の夜に豆まきを続けているが、猫に遭遇したのは初めてのことであった。猫好きのヒトは、このことを喜んだ。

今年は幸先がいいかも・・・だからもう少しガンバロ、とヒトは単純にそう思った。

Last night, I did bean-scattering ceremony (豆まき Mamemaki), at my balcony. On the ground, there was a cat who was surprised when I was out of the house.

But soon the cat settled down then was seeing me from a far place.

I couldn't identify what colour and pattern she(he?) had because it was dark.

She was staring at what I was doing.

She was thinkg about the beans if she could have eaten. But they were dried soy beans for the ceremony.

I've been doing the same ceremony for such a long time at night but I have never seen any cats. I love cats so I was so happy to see her.

It is going to be a good year? I do hope so!! Wish me(everybody) luck!!!
