When police arrested Anthony Graber for speeding on his motorbike, the 25-year-old probably did not see himself as an advocate for police accountability in the age of new media.

But Graber, a sergeant with the Maryland Air National Guard, is now facing 16 years in prison, not for dangerous driving, but for a Youtube video he posted after receiving a speeding ticket.

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- The NYPD is now investigating this attack as a hate crime.

A Brooklyn man was savagely beaten in broad daylight last weekend.

"They used the bad word. 'The mother bleeping Muslim, go back to you country.' They started beating him and after that he don't know what happened," the victim's nephew Abul Kashem said.


Kamal Uddin is in and out of consciousness at Brookdale Hospital after being attacked by four young men.

　小沢氏の「政治とカネ」の問題を不問に付すことはできないが、立候補の動機が何であれ、代表選となることを歓迎したい。
　というのも、菅氏が何を目指すのか判然とせず、小沢氏と代表選を戦えば、国民の眼前で政策論争が活発に行われるからだ。

　菅氏がひどいから、まあ、ええやろ、といったところか？

　ここのところ、
　自民党に　NO！　小鳩にNO!　菅官にNO!　と政治不信は深まるばかりだな。

　　古い自民党は嫌だが、それと戦っていた野党も古い発想しかない。
　どうも古い枠組みからなかなか抜け出せないようだ。

　ま、変革期とはそんなものか？

　一庶民として願うのは、同僚や支持団体ではなく、国民全般に問いかけ、主張し、語りかけて欲しい、ということだ。

　　マスコミのみなさんも自らがしっかりとした日本のビションをもって、私利私欲の権力闘争は茶化し、政策論争に焦点をあてて、しっかり政治家の尻を叩いていってもらいたい。

　ま、日本の政界めちゃくちゃだから、あとでじんわり政界および日本がこわれるより、はやいところ、うまくボカッとこわれて、再編してもらいたい。破壊的創造の奥義なり、と。

　あとは経済政策と安全保障で、

　日本人は好きだが、どうも単細胞なところがあってだめだ、とか、決して日本人は、利口だと思っていないが、民主主義、危機にあたって国民の意思による選択がきちんと実行されていることを非常に高く評価している、

などという報道があれば、言われた国民は反応するわなああ。

America may be known as the land of opportunity, but for an increasing number of people it is an offer they are not willing to take.

Last year alone an estimated 700 people renounced their US citizenship – three times as many as the year before.

“I was punished for speaking out about something that my superiors were doing, and my life became extremely difficult,” O’Keefe told RT. “And upon my return with a different perspective, I started to look at American history and politics, and realized that my whole life I had been lied to. I believed in those ideals, I believed in them, and when I found out that those ideals weren't really the way America was presenting itself in the rest of the world, it became clear to me at some point that I would renounce my citizenship.”

According to Carol Turner from the Stop the War Coalition, it has steadily eroded that goodwill.

“Because it is failing to give that ethical lead now, it is increasingly forced back onto using its military power to impose its will,” Turner claimed.

The report noted that although the U.S. now has an African-American president and that women and Hispanics have won greater social and economic success, large segments of American society suffer from unfair policies and practices.
High unemployment rates, hate crime, poverty, poor housing, lack of access to health care and discriminatory hiring practices are among the challenges the report identified as affecting blacks, Latinos, Muslims, South Asians, Native Americans and gays and lesbians in the United States.
The report, which drew on meetings that U.S. officials held with various groups around the country since January, also cited concerns from civil rights activists and citizens related to immigration and racial profiling by law enforcement agencies.

The Bush administration had shunned the panel for　years over its alleged disproportionate criticism of Israel and membership that includes repressive governments.

　以前は、イスラエルに対する過大な非難や、人権抑圧的な政府が代表となっているので参加を拒絶していたが、オバマ氏になって、参加するようになった。高い失業率、貧困、人種差別的犯罪、などなどが指摘されている。

　因みに米国は他の国についての、人権リポートはしているわけですね。

　RTはこういうの好きだね。以前、land of homeless　と米国を評していたのを紹介したことがあった。

What's even more disturbing, the US is the only country in the developed world to label obesity as a prime national security health risk.

　で、健康被害が高いと認知されているにも係わらず、米国は世界で一番肥満の国である、と。

　原因として、

"There is a lot of innovation going on in America at all levels, whether it be organic or at a genetically engineered activity," said David Snively, the general counsel for agro-giant Monsanto.

Monsanto is the former manufacturer of the killer herbicide, Agent Orange, which was sprayed through the jungles of Vietnam during its war with the US in the 1960's and 1970's. Exposure to Agent Orange resulted in illness and birth defects that were only recognized decades later. But Monsanto is now responsible for more than half of the US's food and produce supply.

The United States also holds the record for the largest production of genetically modified products in the world. 95 per cent of American corn and 85 per cent of soybeans are genetically modified. All processed foods contain GM ingredients, which means that 70 to 75 per cent of the food we eat every day is genetically engineered.

A federal judge has now ruled Davis failed to prove his innocence – despite no physical evidence against him, seven of the nine witnesses recanting their earlier testimonies against him, and still others naming another man all together as the killer. The judge simply referred to the new evidence as "smoke and mirrors.”

　冤罪の可能性が極めて高く、物理的証拠もなく、９人の証人が証言を撤回しているにも係わらず死刑宣告に対する控訴を却下。

Mexican President Felipe Calderon visited Arlington National Cemetery as a symbolic gesture to recognize the Latinos and Mexican-Americans serving in the US Armed Forces.


The cemetery is an uncommon stop for Mexican presidents. In the past Mexican leaders refused to visit because it is a reminder of the 1914 US military seizure of the Port of >Veracruz.

In the battle over immigration reform, many are questioning what roles Mexicans have in the United States, specifically in the military.

Ron Gochez, a Los Angeles school teacher and activist says the US military disproportionate targets Latino and low-income communities who feel they have no other options but to join the military.

　その動機を隠しながら、一般的な利益・国際正義に貢献すると銘打って、国益を推進する技術とでも、言おうか？　あるいは、現実主義、プラグマティズムのために、ジェスチャーがうまい、という意味かな？

　いずれにせよ、こうした技術が足りないのは、菅氏だけでなく、日本の政治家にひろく言えることかもしれない。

　小沢氏はアメリカ人を単純と評したが、むしろ、日本人のほうが単純な人が多いのかもしれん。

　例えばの話、歴史教科書問題でも、有道ブログではもうイギリス帝国主義肯定派そのものの意見を持った人がいるが、こうした人にさりげなく、教えて下さい、風に、インタービューに行って、言質をとり、自国日本のことはさておき、イギリスの歴史教育問題を問題化する、とか、米国の性風俗を取材して、女性解放を叫んだり、とか、食肉処理場に潜入して動物解放を叫んだり、とか、そういった自国の闇には知らん顔して、大義を持ち出したり、あるいは、慰安婦問題なら、戦時性性奴隷について、国際的な援助組織作って各国に勧告するとかーーーー中国・韓国のナショナリズムの挑発には反応せず、大義を掲げて国益に結びつけていく、あるいは、大義のために、肉を切らせて骨を切る、あるいは、そのジェスチャーというか、そういったことかな？

　しかし、いずれにせよ、英国米国からは学ぶべき点が多いのだろう。

民主党の小沢一郎前幹事長は２５日の「小沢一郎政治塾」の講演で、米国観を語り、「米国人は好きだが、どうも単細胞なところがあってだめだ」と述べた。


　米国のオバマ大統領について「絶対、黒人大統領はあり得ないと思っていた社会で、黒人大統領が誕生した。黒人が出たら暗殺されるといううわささえ以前にはあったが、この危機にあたって変化を強調したオバマ氏を選んだ」と指摘。「決して米国人は利口だと思っていないが、民主主義、危機にあたって国民の意思による選択がきちんと実行されていることを非常に高く評価している」と強調した。

　また、小沢氏は「政界でも官界でも財界でも、精神の荒廃、日本人の劣化が急速に進んでいる」と問題提起。第２次世界大戦を舞台にした映画「戦場にかける橋」に登場する英国人捕虜の規律正しさを紹介し、英国を「さんざん悪いことをして紳士面しているから好きではない」としながらも「祖国のために戦う軍隊も、自分たちの意思で（作った）という意識がある。自分たち自身の社会であり、国であるという民主主義の基本の意識が徹底している」と評価した。

　ここまで言ったら、英語圏ならかなり大騒ぎになるんじゃないか、と思うなあ。

　日本のメディアはもっと追求するのかなあ？しないのかなあ？

　謝罪を受け入れる入れないは相手次第、誠意があれば受け入れてくれる、という考えが一方にあり、

　「謝罪が成功するには受け手にそれを受け入れる用意が不可欠だが、韓国や中国には受け入れの意思はなく、歴史問題で日本と和解する気がないといえる」

という考えもある。

　謝罪していれば、相手の要求は不当につり上がっていく、という面があるのもある。しかし、これからの潮流として国家間の謝罪が評価されてくるだろう、ということもある。

　また、従来、一方で謝罪して、相手の言うことを何でも聞かなくてはいけないと思っている勢力があり、他方で、謝罪もしない、相手の苦情も一切聞かないという勢力がせめぎ合ってズルズル玉虫色にやってきたかんがある。

　謝罪をしても失うものはない。

　相手国のなかには言葉尻をとらえて非難する人々もいるだろうが、しかし、そこを譲歩して歴史的にないことを認める必要もない。ただ、悪かった点については、何度謝罪しても失うものもない。

　形骸化してしまうかもしれないが、それはしようがない。

　記事で失うとされるものに、誇りやら評判、自国の立場などがあげられている。
　
　しかし、謝罪して、自国民の自国の誇りが傷つけられるような柔な誇りは日本は卒業しただろうし、過去の悪行については、むしろ、それを認め、謝罪してこそ、評判が高まる、自国の立場については、過去の悪行を認めることで、関係のない、あるいは、過当な要求まで承認すれば、そうなるだろうが、その点、しっかり言うべきことは言うべきだ。

　付言すると、欧米がやっていないからやらない、というのもこれまた卑屈だ。

　むしろ、もうひとつ積極攻勢にでる必要はある、と思う。

　慰安婦問題でももう一つ積極的に、しっかりした、規範を定立して、他の国家にもそれに従うように指導的立場をとればいいのであって、これを機会にむしろ自国の立場をあげることさえできる。

　ぼくは、鳩山元首相が民主党のこざかしい権力争いにいまだに係わっているよりも、アジアでも行脚して、謝罪外交をしてもらった方がよほど日本の役に立つと思っている。

　岡田克也外相は２５日、都内の日本外国特派員協会で講演し、１００年前に締結された日韓併合条約について「日本政府としては当時は合法的に締結されたという考え方を持っている」と述べた。岡田氏はこれまで条約締結時の有効性について言及を避けていたが、初めて有効性を認めた。
　岡田氏は「（条約が）無効か有効かという不毛の議論を繰り返すつもりはない」とも指摘した。その上で「（昭和４０年に）日韓基本条約が結ばれたときに、『今や無効である』との表現で両国は折り合った」とも述べた。韓国側は「条約締結時も無効」との姿勢をとっているが、岡田氏は日韓の認識の違いについて「政府間で議論しても答えは出ない」と答えた。
　岡田氏は２０日の記者会見では「今や無効だとの考え方で落ち着いた。それに何か付け加えるべきものがあるとは考えていない」と述べていた。

まず、日本に来る前に日本語を学ぶ機会を充実すべきだろう。

賛成だ。日本語学校を海外で作って漫画ブームと同様に日本語ブームを作るくらいの意気込みを民間の学校ももつべきだ、と思う。

　

　滞在期間を見直して、受験の機会も拡大したい。働きながら学ぶだけでなく、奨学金をもらって資格をとれる養成校などで学ぶコースも増やせないものだろうか。

グッドアイデアだ。

　専門知識は英語などで試験し、仕事に必要な日本語力のテストは別に行うというふうに、試験のあり方も検討すべき課題といえる。

という点はどうか。介護士と看護士では違うだろうが、看護士の場合、仕事場で使う日本語は専門用語でも習得しておかないと事故のもとになる。

　それと、それ以前に、やはり、日本社会の全体で、外国人を受け入れる体制の意識をもっと高めることだ。

　電車の中で外国人は避けられる、とか、外国人という理由で部屋の賃貸を拒否された、などという不満は外国人からよく聞く。

　こうした不合理をメディアや政府公報などで、広く国民に伝えることが重要だ。

In San Diego, California, thousands of vets from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars are sleeping on the streets.

The largest growing population of homeless women in San Diego is veterans returning from current combats, according to Catholic Charities, which operates shelters around the city.

“It only takes one or two people to say 'I don’t know' or, 'no, we can’t help you,' for them to walk away and think that there’s no help for them,” said Brisson. “You get hooked on drugs, alcohol and they’re not aware enough to take advantage of the programs.”

He says that over the past few years, the number of more recent veterans has begun to outnumber the homeless Vietnam veterans.

　左派というのはアメリカでたいした影響力をもったことがない、と。

　もっとも、左派というか、リベラルというか、あるいは、自国や自国陣営に批判的なひとってのはわりにいることはいるわけです。例えば、モスク建築反対に反対する人もいるわけです。

　また、例えばの話、原爆について、G. E. M. Anscombe　John RawlsA. C. Grayling
Howard Zinnなど、原爆投下について批判的です。例の、Helen Mearsなんかも、自国批判的です。そのほかにも沢山いるわけです。こういった人達は、もちろん、日本が正しかったなどとはいっていない。日本の所業もひどかったか、アメリカのやったこともひどかった、と言っている。先日コメント欄ででたビックスなんかも、天皇論に関しては不評もありますけど、（ただ、著名な作品になればなるほど批判もあるのであって、批判があるだけで、作品も悪い、とはならないところにも注意）

In short, Nanking 1937 needs to be read in a way that highlights the universal within the particular. Set it against the background of the Russian rape of German women in postwar occupied Germany (1945-49), or the French torture of civilians during the Algerian War (1954-62) or the American atrocities at No Gun Ri hamlet early in the Korean War (1950-53). Compare the logic of Japan’s campaign in 1930s China with the American colonial war of aggression in Iraq, now generating war atrocities on a virtually daily basis, or with the American murder of Afghanis prisoners at the U.S. Baghran air base in Afghanistan, or the American mistreatment of war prisoners held in cages at the U.S. Guantanamo base in Cuba. And don’t forget the lessons of the atrocities in Nanking when reading of the atrocious policies that Israeli governments (past but especially present) pursue against the Palestinians for the sake of Israeli "settlements" and "outposts" built illegally on stolen land. By conjuring the sight of these still fresh, unhealed crimes this book should enlighten and anger its readers.

　太郎もやった、トムもやった、だから、太郎は悪くない、なんてそんな馬鹿なことを言っているのではない。太郎もやった、トムもやった、太郎も悪い、トムも悪い、太郎に適用した基準をトムに適用をしないのはおかしい、と言っているだけである。

　加えると、太郎の悪行だけ指摘するのはおかしい、すでに謝っている太郎に謝っていないトムが謝れ、というのもおかしい。
　
　国際的な観点に立てるリベラルってのはーーーリベラルナショナリズムってのもありますから、一概に言えませんけどーーー国際的に同一の基準を使って将来に向かって進歩して、過去の桎梏からより解放されていこうとする。

　ところが右翼的傾向がある人たちは自国を保守し、美化しやすいから、自国の悪については黙りを決め込むか、２重基準をつかって擁護する場合が多い。。自国で排外的なナショナリストの人は他国・敵国にいくと左翼に見える。

ところ変われば、右翼が左翼　他参照

　で、とにかく左派ってのは存在するものの、米国でそう影響力をもったことがない、と。

　まあ、そんな観点から、嫌日ヘイトブログの主催者をコラミストにもつJapan Timesなどの記事を読んでみると面白いと思います。

　彼等が、国際的な観点にたったリベラルなのか、それとも欧米中心主義の右翼なのかわかると思います。


　おっちょこちょいの日本のリベラルが協力しているのが一体だれなのか？

　因みにぼくは反欧米・反中反韓ではありません。
　僕の引用著書などからもわかるように、知識の多くを英語圏のものに負っている。敬意をもっている。
　人は日本人でも中国人でも欧米人でも好きなのも嫌いなのもいる。
　日本に一番愛着がありますが、文化的には米国も中国も好きです。
　軍事的には、米国とある程度の距離を持ちながらも協力しあったほうがいいと思っています。
　日本の過去の悪行については素直に認め謝罪するのはいいことだとも思っています。
　ただ、日本のことはさておき欧米や中国を批判する日本人を非難しながら、自国のことはさておき日本を批判する２重基準の似非リベラル、またそうした似非リベラル＝欧米中心主義右翼の欧米人の類に追随する類の日本のリベラルにはついていけません。

The Japanese media is irrelevant. The best thing for these demonstrators would be to ensure as much foreign TV coverage as possible. Any mischief on the part of the rightists would not be swept under the carpet by, say, the bbc or cnn. at least they would have no incentive to do so if the footage was compelling enough.
gaiatsu is the only way to get through to the japanese authorities, who seem to be more afraid of rightist freaks than of their own electorate.

　当の西洋”白人”たちは、右翼の迷惑行為をCNNやBBCに撮影してもらい、世界に報道して自分たちの有利に運ぼうとしている。


　靖国参拝推進派の新聞社が、街宣右翼の行動を批判しないで、靖国参拝が先細りになるのは、自業自得と言えようが、太地町の場合、知性も社会性もある豚の肉を食らいながら、イルカ捕獲に反対する一部の欧米”白人”たちの餌食になるのはーーーー豚にせよイルカにせよ、無駄な苦痛を与えることは反対であるがーーーー可哀想な気がする。


　きちがい右翼は有害無益であることを徹底して知るべきである。


　太市町の方々に言いたいのは、絶対に挑発にのってはけない。

　カメラなどを準備しておくことだ。

　できれば行進などは年寄りや女性や子供を使うのがいい。

　そして、コーブの連中とともにこうした右翼の連中にも平和的にNOをつきつけることだ。、
