自殺は苦しくない。ちょっとした気分転換になるし・・。それをやるかやらないかは自分次第。昨今のまるで伝染病のように次から次に自殺する日本の中・高生にさらなる自殺の奨励をしているわけではありません。
ロパート・アルトマン監督が亡くなった。ついこの間の・・といってもあれからもう半年以上経っているんだけど、春のアカデミー賞の授賞式には名誉監督賞をもらう彼の姿があった。だから、まだ元気なんだと思っていたら・・。

過去に見た彼の作品をいろいろ思い出していた。かなり毒が聞いたブラック・コメディの数々や、様々な業界の内幕を皮肉たっぷりに描いた作品・・。そんな中でも、一番最初の朝鮮戦争時代の話、「Ｍ★Ａ★Ｓ★Ｈ」の野戦病院の話は最高におもしろかった。で、あの映画で流れたきれいで物悲しいバラード調のメロディとその詩を思い出したのだ。

この詩の訳は大部分がこちらのサイトにありました。
で、この詩を書いたのが、当時わずか１４歳だった、アルトマン監督の息子のマイク・アルトマンだったというから驚きなのだ。で父親が映画「Ｍ★Ａ★Ｓ★Ｈ］で得た収入よりもこの歌ひとつで１４歳の息子のほうがはるかに多く稼いだらしい。
１４歳ですよ。今日本で、苛めにあって自殺している子供たちと同じ年代。そんな子がこんな虚無的な詩を書くなんて・・。この映画は朝鮮戦争時代の野戦病院の話だけど、公開されたのは１９７０年でベトナム戦争真っ盛りだった頃。だから戦争に行って殺し殺されするよりは自殺ってことだったのか。ま、ある種の反戦歌ですね。
しかし、今日本で自殺している子供たちは、当然のことながら、ここまで冷めた意識で自殺するということを客観視などしてないだろう。
戦争で死ぬのも自殺するのも犬死だわ。 自殺したってすぐ忘れられるだけだ。苛めた連中なんて罪悪感のかけらも感じずに犯罪を犯したことなど忘れてしまうだろうし、死んだ者のことなんてすぐ記憶の彼方だ。
だから自殺なんて絶対にしちゃいけない・・と言っても、当分この連鎖は続くんだろうね。
