記事によると、第６世代戦闘機のエンジン開発企業はGEになる模様。このほど空軍は開発費約４５０億円をGEに供与することを決定した。
第６世代戦闘機エンジンは adaptive cycle engine (ACE)適応サイクルエンジンと呼ばれるものであり、現在の固定空気流方式とは異なり、ACE は状況に応じて高推力モードと高効率モードを自動的に切り替えることができる。
