これかな？さらっと読むと、短いセンテンスで、具体的でうまい、とおれは思う。
Keyword はfight/love our country・patriot,ってところで、家族や同胞に対する愛を感謝しを表す。まあ、保守ってのはそんなもんだね。それから、our Creator やGodといった言葉も散見される。
I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s. I loved it not just for the many comforts of life here. I loved it for its decency; for its faith in the wisdom, justice and goodness of its people. I loved it because it was not just a place, but an idea, a cause worth fighting for. まあ、美しい国日本とか、愛国とかいうとリベラルの在日評論家たちはやっきになって叩いたが、アメリカだと叩かれないというのは、ようわからんな。
因みに、日本もでてくる。

日本がパールハーバーの爆撃したという連絡を受けてからというもの、その後数年、何年もとおちゃんの姿はあまりみかけんかった。
つまり、とおちゃんも愛国のため頑張った、そういう環境でおいら育ってきたというわけ。
個人的には、

value・・・・over よりも・・・を重視・評価する。
という英語の言い回しをみて、ああ、そう言えばいいのか、などと不図思ったりした。
