 Filipino couple faces imminent deportation, separation from Japan-born daughter 魚拓

のりこちゃん一家の続報。

いろいろ議論はあってもいいが、同様なことは、例えば、アメリカでも頻繁におきている。
そのことは在日外国人の方も知っておいて欲しい。

以下、ごく最近のニュースである。

Mom faces deportation in Florida
TAVARAS, Fla., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Immigrant advocates say police in Florida responding to a domestic violence call arrested an alleged illegal immigrant instead of dealing with the abuse.
Rita Cote, 23, was transferred to federal custody Tuesday, a week after her arrest in Tavares, Fla., The Orlando Sentinel reported. Cote, a Honduran national, is married to a U.S. citizen and has three children who were born in the United States.魚拓

The case has reignited the debate over illegal immigration in the region.

Civil-liberties and immigration advocates decried the arrest as a misuse of police authority that broke apart a family, while others say she and her husband brought the situation on themselves.

These incidents are not uncommon because the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency stepped up enforcement and started collaborating with police departments, said Gail Seeram, an immigration attorney in west Orlando.魚拓

“A foreigner in possession of a green card who commits a crime in the US will be immediately deported and permanently barred from re-entry upon completion of their sentence”
Not quite:
…even though you have a “Green Card”, you can be deported from the United States if you:

* are convicted of even a minor drug related offense;
* are convicted of certain crimes which are considered felonies;
* are convicted of any two crimes not arising out of a single scheme;
* knowingly encourage or aid anyone to enter the United States illegally or fraudulently;
* fail to notify the USCIS of a change of address;
* engage in espionage, sabotage, or terrorist activities.

It’s not all crimes, and is not “will be” but “can.” Still pretty strict of course. The permanent bar is really nasty.
And I did find this:
“In the State of Texas for example, three convictions of Driving Under the Influence for a non-US Citizen, will lead to deportation from the US”
