昭和５１（１９８９）年１０月から５２年９月にかけて１年間Ｇｅｏｇｉａ大学（Ｇｅｏｒｇｉａ州Ａｔｈｅｎｓ）の招待研究員としてＲａｙｍｏｎｄ Ｄａｍｉａｎ教授の研究室で研究をしていた頃、夕方授業を終えた試験器具洗浄のアルバイトに来ていた女子学生（Ｅve）が小さなトランジスターラジオ持ってきて音楽を聴きながら陽気に作業していたが、流れてくる曲が何故かRod Stwartが多かった。この時歌詞の内容などは勿論分からなかったけれど曲だけは頭に刻み込まれたていたので帰国後CDショップに出かけて購入してき初めて当時アメリカでトップ１０入りのRod Stwartの“Tonight's the night”と知ったのでした。 因みに、１９４５年１月１０日London生まれ当年６６歳のRod Stwartは 現在なお現役で活躍し、昨年も日本公演があったと聞いています。日本では “Ｓｅｌｌｉｎｇ”という曲が好まれるようで、ＮＨＫの“おしらせ”でもバック ミュウジックで使われています。 ROD STEWART

Micheal Jackson“Ｗe are the world” 昭和５９（１９８４）年９月から６１（１９８６)年１２月まで西アフリカNigeriaのLagosにある日本大使館の医務官として駐留してSenegar,Liberia, Gahnaの各日本大館を巡回して健康管理にあたりました。 その頃、アフリカは何処に行っても、一時期、繁華街でそして空港でもWe are the worldの音楽が流れてきていました。 今でも時々ラジオやテレビなどでこの音楽だ流されるのを聴くことがありますが（Micheal Jackson追悼番組などで）、過去のアフリカでの日々の情景が思い出されます。
