Prime minister (PM); How are you, are you good?
Mesut; I’m fine, thankgod/thankfully (and you?)
PM; How is things going?
Mesut; Good
PM; Do you have a game?
Mesut; Game is tomorrow
PM; Tomorrow?
Mesut; Yes
PM; Really, Against who?
Mesut; euhhh, with a club….rumbles something, I can’t understand
(I think Mesut gets a bit nervous here to explain the PM that they are playing a second division B club its name he can’t pronounce in the copa del rey , thankfully the journalist helps him here)
PM; Are you becoming champions this year?
Mesut; This year has become difficult?
PM; Is that so
PM; I wish you success
Mesut; Thank you a lot
PM; If there’s something, you can call me
Mesut; All right, we’ll call
Mesut; At the end of the month we are thinking/planning of coming (to Turkey)
PM; I’m waiting
Mesut; Thank you
A brilliant performance from the defender, who played excellently from start to finish. Had a header tipped over the bar before nodding home his side's second goal of the night. He also fed the forwards with some quality passes.
The Germany international's delivery from set plays were consistently fantastic and it helped keep his team in charge of the game throughout. He played some great passes and capped his night with a simple goal in the 56th minute.
Proved not to be his night as although he started the game impressively he sent the majority of his efforts straight at the keeper. Nevertheless, he supplied a great ball to Benzema in the build-up to his side's fourth.
A monstrous performance from the French striker who could not be contained by the Bilbao defence. His power, pace and finishing made him irrepressible and were key to a pair of brilliant goals.
Replaced Ozil in the 62nd minute and grabbed himself a goal 10 minutes later with a well-struck effort. He was solid in the midfield and added some dynamism.
According to Cuatro, these are the events that occurred after the match against Levante yesterday: Ballesteros was the first into the tunnel after Mourinho and he went directly to his locker room.
That’s when the majority of the Madrid players went to their locker rooms, among them Pepe who was dancing and celebrating for the victory.
The Levante players also walked to their locker rooms and insults were exchanged between the teams.
Muñiz Fernández showed up and wrote in his official ref’s report “At the end of the mach I attempted to mediate between two players, one from each club, who were arguing with each other in a provocative and threatening attitude. They were then separated by Levante security.”
A medic took Cristiano from the locker room to the infirmary to finish looking at this eye. Ballesteros followed after him to supposedly check on him. Pepe also went to the infirmary because he was experiencing some discomfort. And that’s when the argument started. Adan heard the commotion from the locker room and enlisted Nacho to help him separate the players. Pepe and Ballesteros appeared to be beyond reason. More players, such as Sergio & Xabi showed up as well.
A group of national police showed up to the mix zone area to try and diffuse the situation. Ballesteros, who had been ordered not to speak to the press, then walked out. The police waited to see that Ballasteros had left before they let the Madrid players walk out. They are informed he has left. Carlos Carbajosa, director in charge of press for Real Madrid, confirmed to Cuatro what happened.
Ballesteros came back to the mixed zone to speak to Cadena SER, and it’s there that he was only a few feet away from Sergio Ramos who said “If Ballesteros prefers boxing to football….” Juanlu (Levante player), who is next to Sergio heard this and made a face. In the end Pepe and Cristiano walk right behind Ballesteros, but things seem to have been calm by then.
Q: Does this break in the league do good for you so you will do better for Real Madrid and take some pressure away?
M: Remove? The pressure? There is always pressure in football. No matter where you play, the pressure is always the same. I’m glad to be in the national team because I have great friends here and I always look forward to seeing them, but as always I have a great responsibility too. I’m in Germany and Real Madrid, two great teams. I have to live with this pressure always, but I carry it well.
Q: Does it differ much how you play for Madrid and Germany?
M: My goal is to give my best in every game, for both Real Madrid and in the national team. My play maker position gives me freedom to attack like in another position I couldn’t, in that sense the game makes me feel very happy. Both in Madrid and in Germany, when I attack, I’m free. I can go right, left, middle … I have the ability to surprise and I try to take this advantage of this ability in both Madrid and the NT. I really don’t think there’s change in the way of my playing when I switch from team to another.
Q: What Löw wants and what Mourinho wants?
M: They both want to play the best way possible in everything on the pitch. Each one tries to exploit me the most, that’s all. Each in his own way, but basically everything pretty much goes with the same idea to play. I insist that I do not think I change my behavior on the pitch for Real Madrid or NT. I’m happy because I’m only 24 years old and I think I’m in a good progression.
Q: Özil plays as if there were zero beats … How do you do that?
M: I think I have had this virtue since I was a child. As a child I played football with my brother and his friends. He was six years older than me and if I wanted to match me they had to mark my territory. I played like I did not care about the age difference, appearing to be as strong as them.
In Madrid I have matured a lot. One of my goals was to play for Mourinho and I’m doing it currently and now my goal is to evolve and grow as a player. In Madrid Mou gives me confidence, like my teammates, so I have no reason to get nervous. I have responsibility, but nothing more. I feel very good at Real Madrid.
Q: Doesn’t stadium like Camp Nou make your legs shake a little?
M: Me? No … In a game like that I’m very focused and warm, because it is a very big match. I have the desire to go to the pitch and play as soon as possible, because you know it is a game that everyone looks forward. But certainly not nervous. Calm game.
Q: Do you like being watched?
M: In the pitch I forget this. Games aren’t for me to prove anything, I play for fun. In the field my only aim is to give my everything and help the team. In the end, the triumph of the team is what matters. I don’t go to the pitch to show off, but to help the team and have fun.
Q: Do you think that football is a business more than a game?
M: I know what football is today… But not for me. For me, football is a game for fun more than a business. When I jump into the grass and kick the ball I’m the happiest. I’m happy to train, go to work and home. There I expect my family, my friends, that are most important to me. They help me play down a bit this. In Madrid I’m never alone and that helps me get my success, because when you’re in a big club like Real Madrid you really need a balance.
Q: Do you review your games on TV?
M: Unfortunately or fortunately, no, I have no time. When I’m home I spend as much time with my family as I cam. At home I give my time to them. Sometimes I see some short clips, but only because my friends show them to me “Look what you did!”. I normally don’t watch really, I know how to play and what I can do.
Q: Does Mou demand more now than in previous years?
M: Not just the coach, everyone. But I am not demanded more than others. Mourinho wants all of us to the top level and that is normal. I want to be on the top forever. I want to improve my performance this year to play and help the team.
Q: But do you feel that this year is worse?
M: I’m just a person and sometimes I have better days and periods. I’m playing in the biggest club of the world so I have to demand the maximum from myself. I feel normal and I’m very quiet in this regard. I couldn’t be happier than I am now in Madrid. The fans are great, the coach gives me confidence and the team is the best. What more could I want?
Q: Who in your family is the most critical for you?
M: When I don’t play well I know it. If I have not played well I’m going home very angry, I realize in the pitch whether I’m doing well or not. At home are my brother and my father talking with me, telling me if I played well. But they don’t criticize, but they are quite critical in the Spanish press.
Q: Is it unfair the how the Spanish press treats you?
M: It is what it is. But I don’t think it is just me, but for the entire team. I’m used to other kind of press, because the press in Germany does not do personal attacks. In Spain it does sometimes somehow insult you. And I don’t like that. They don’t say all, but you have to step into the shoes of the people. Luckily I don’t let myself be affected by what is said. I love what I do and always look forward. I go to my roll. And I have no problem with journalists, eh? Here I sit with you with no problem.
Q: Mourinho said after the game against Barcelona that you don’t do well in every game. Do you agree? Do you have to run anymore?
M: (Smiles). Today you have to run a lot. The eleven players have to run a lot. My goal is to perform at my best. I know what I can do, where I have to improve and I’ll do it.
Q: Ramos case … What was that episode with the shirt?
M: (Özil laughs and jokes). I think he looks better in 4 than in 10. We are superfriends, there is a story behind. We had talked before and he promised he would dedicate a goal for me and so he did. We are very good friends.
Q: You have said that Mou is like a father to you … Is Ramos like your older brother in the team then?
M: We are all like a little family. Of course, there are times when I understand Ramos better than others. It is normal. There are some groups. But the good thing about Madrid is that generally we are all a piña. No envy and we all know the merit of recognizing our fellows. And for me, despite all that is said about the locker room of Madrid, this is what is special about the team. We are a wonderful group.
Q: What do you lack to be the perfect player?
M: You have to be at the highest level for many years. To be a regularly on the top. I’m on the right track. I’m 24 years now and feel like I’m taking the right steps. I am very ambitious and want to get very high, but to get high the team also needs to win titles. One player is just not going anywhere by himself, this is a team sport.
Q: Do you feel the love of Bernabeu?
M: What matters is not to be the favorite of the fans, the fans want the team. But I can’t say bad word about the treatment of the fans. It’s great with me, I have only gotten words of thanks. When I go out to eat, people always want autographs, photos, ask me things… The fans of Real Madrid are special and I when I go to the Bernabeu turf I feel what I want. I’m glad that the fans support me, because without people football is nothing. And not without the players either.
Q: Do you dream of winning the Golden Ball?
M: Every player wants to be the best ever. If you work hard, why not aiming to be the best in the world someday?
Q: Madrid is eight points behind Barca. Is the league still possible?
M: In football everything is possible. There’s a lot of games to come and Barcelona has to play in our home turf. Anything can happen and we will fight until the end of the League. We have to go game by game and try to cut the lead. Barca is ahead of us, but we still have lots of time.
Q: Is the Champions League the main objective of Real Madrid this season?
M: When you play in Real Madrid the goal is to win all the titles, not just the Champions. We have the potential and I am optimistic that we can get it. La Decima is still far away way, but we will do our best.
Mesut Özil interview for Marca today 15.10. PART 2
Mesut explains why he asked that the interview would be done in German. “Yes I already can speak Spanish” he laughs, but clarifies: “My problem is that you Spanish people speak very quickly. When I go to a restaurant and don’t know what to do. I tell the waiter: ‘Slow down, please.’ But they usually repeat everything at the same speed, so it stays the same… and I say “okay” “I’m still learning, but my problem is that when I go to vacation or I go to the NT, I forget a lot. I forget lot when I’m not with my teammates in Madrid, but I am already much better. I understand already most I hear and I can speak quite well, but at times like this interview, I feel more comfortable in German.
Talking about his life “I’m not bad at cooking, I cook mostly Turkish food. I can get into the kitchen and make a good meal”. He has not forgotten his roots in Turkey ” I was born in Germany and so I decided to play with this team, but I don’t forget where are my ancestors. I think I’ve taken the best from Germany, discipline, and creativity of my ancestors Turks “. His musical tastes, in fact, go through Istanbul. “I like Tarkan, a Turkish musical singer, I listen him a lot.”
“I love basketball and I’m not bad at playing it! I like Lebron James, he is a phenomenon.”
At the end of the interview MARCA surprises Mesut with a cake for his 24th birthday. Today, October 15, Mesut is celebrating and we asked him to make a wish: “Health for my family and friends and many celebrations with my teammates. Many titles we shall win.” Mesut says he’s satisfied with little gifts: “I’m the happiest to get a SMS. When the people who love me send me a message, that is what I like
Ozil came out of the blocks slowly and did not really impress much in the first half but he burst to life in the second and was one of Real Madrid's biggest threats of the night. He managed to get the better of Adriano on a few occasions and would have notched up a few more assists if not for the profligacy of his teammates. His reverse pass for Ronaldo's second goal was world-class however, and demonstrated the amount of quality he possessed.

Ozil has done a great job, he was subbed off because he was exhausted, he’s not used to work that much. Ozil must work as today vs Rayo, Depor, and against all, not only against Barcelona.
José Mourinho
Ramos wore Ozil's No.10 under his own jersey with the intention to reveal the midfielder's shirt if he'd score, and his action was interpreted by some as yet another act of rebellion toward the Madrid trainer following his alleged fall-out with the Portuguese.
Nevertheless, Ramos has made it clear that his action was all about supporting Ozil rather than provoking Mourinho.
"I would like to clarify a few things before more lies are invented. Mesut is a great friend and I promised him long ago that my first goal of the season would be for him," the defender stated on Twitter.
"I wore his shirt last match, because I had a feeling I would score. That's all there's to it.
"My relationship with Mourinho is good. I fully respect his decisions. He's the best coach."
Ozil has been struggling to find his best form in the opening weeks of the 2012-13 campaign, and Mourinho warned last week that there is a lot of competition in midfield and that every player has to show he deserves his spot.
Mourinho seemingly felt Ozil failed to do just that versus Deportivo, though, as he replaced the former Werder Bremen man with Kaka after 45 minutes of play.
Madrid extended their lead from 3-1 to 5-1 after Ozil's substitution, but Ramos was unable to add his name to the score-sheet, and was thus forced to keep Ozil's shirt hidden under his own.

This is a very classy reaction from a player who clearly felt his team-mate had been hard done by. Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, who has been embroiled in an ongoing war of words with Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho, was so angered by the half-time subbing of German midfielder Mesut Ozil, that he opted to wear the player’s number ten shirt under his own, seemingly ready to reveal the garment if he were to score in the second half.
As it turned out Ramos didn’t net but the image above clearly shows he had every intention to once again rebel against Mourinho and such action may well not go unpunished.

Ozil ready to be 'important' part of Real Madrid's season
Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil believes he can still be integral to success at Santiago Bernabeu this season.
The German playmaker wants to play a starring role, despite the continued form of Cristiano Ronaldo and summer recruitment of Luka Modric making competition for places fiercer than ever.
Ozil, who scored two goals against the Faroe Islands in his nation's opening 2014 World Cup qualifier, spoke of his confidence after the game.
"The most important thing was the victory for the team, but I'm very happy with the two goals I scored," the midfielder told reporters. I enjoyed being on the pitch and a game like this is good for me to keep building my confidence."
"The football year has just started, but I feel good and I think I can keep improving. [Real Madrid] have a long season ahead of us and I want to be a very important part of it."

Reus (Center) sings with the anthem, Özil chews gum

Mesut Özil (23) meets in a 2: 1 in Austria to victory.
Already the third goal for the German Real Star in the second World Cup qualifier - before two goals in the 3-0 against the Faroe Islands.
In Vienna, Özil chews yesterday before kick-off when the national anthem is still relaxed chewing gum.
He remains cool even from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute. Only two steps approach. Then Özil sunk the ball placed below on the right
Özil scored his 12th international hit with the white phantom shoes.
Background: His partnership with Nike expired. Özil plays since then in the white shoes without logo.
Mesut Özil's deliberation between Nike and adidas is swinging firmly in the direction of the three stripes. After flirting with the adidas Predator LZ in recent competitive matches, the Real Madrid midfielder is using the international break to test drive the f50 adizero miCoach.
As announced this week Özil's official ties with the American brand have come to an end after his advertising contract expired on July 31. Nike offered the German international a mega contract extension worth €20m which would have seen him wear Nike products until 2016. Özil refused the deal and is now using the time to test other football boots.
In a recent statement, the 23-year-old commented; “I appreciate the cooperation with Nike in recent years, but I now want to take my time and use the unsigned time to test different shoes.” Losing such a high calibre player will be a big blow to Nike, and one that adidas will look to take advantage of by taking the Real Madrid man under contract.
The situation presents a rare opportunity for adidas to land one of Nike's former star names. Player's of Özil's stature are rarely on the market. Özil – who began his professional career wearing adidas - would be a perfect partner for the German brand. Real Madrid and the German FA are official partners and both sponsored by adidas.
For the past two years, Özil has been one of Nike's most high profile and frequently promoted athletes. The tricky German now looks to be heading into adidas' books alongside Real Madrid team-mates Angel di Maria, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Fábio Coentrão, Xabi Alonso and Iker Casillas.
On the Verge of Greatness Germany's Shy Football Prodigy Mesut Özil
"It isn't easy looking after an international star like Mesut," says 44-year-old Mustafa Özil, stressing the importance of good nutrition and "personal wishes." The agency has five to seven employees, depending on whether or not you include the two housekeepers in Madrid.
There's a media consultant, Ludwigsburg-based PR agent Roland Eitel, who also works with Löw and his predecessor, Jürgen Klinsmann. Then there are two general minders who live with the star in Madrid -- his cousin Serdar and a friend. Özil refers to the pair as his "best colleagues." According to Özil's media consultant, one of them looks after the house, the other is mainly responsible for the car -- that is, driving the player to training sessions and the like.
Finally, there's Özil's 27-year-old brother Mutlu, whose job his father and boss Mustafa says is to "coordinate" the company.
Mesut Özil already has more than 5 million fans on Facebook, but his marketing team bemoans the fact that the games he plays with his Spanish club aren't shown live on television in Germany and the media don't report enough about him. They say his former managers didn't do a good enough job positioning him because professional consultants are only interested in the financial side.
Fazeli brought advertisers in, but Özil's father recently rejected two of the sponsorship deals that were offered. One of them, €200,000 from an auto manufacturer, he dismissed as too low. After all, Real Madrid players have to give half of their marketing income to their club.
Özil's father claims Fazeli merely used Mesut as a way to get two other clients, Turkish players Hamit Altintop and Nuri Sahin, into Real Madrid. Altintop once said in an interview that Özil's inclusion in the German national squad wasn't a sign of successful integration, but the result of his value on the market and his career.
All that remained to represent him was his business card, which describes him as "General Director," and his function as "business advertising" under the newly-designed logo of Özil Marketing. "ÖZIL" is written in the black, red and gold of the German flag, and appears in front of a globe encircled by a laurel wreath. The center of the "Ö" is formed by the silhouette of father and son standing back-to-back. The two are now united as part of a brand.
An old acquaintance of Özil's, who prefers to remain anonymous, claims there has been only one significant change since the family-run football business was set up -- Özil's father is in the newspaper more often.
When someone on Twitter suggested Mesut Özil wasn't a proper German because of his Turkish roots, it was Mustafa's statement that was quoted. Mustafa Özil brought in a lawyer, and ordered him to press charges against the unknown author of the tweet. The lawyer wanted to give an interview too, but Özil's media consultant was able to prevent him from doing so.
Özil's brother and coordinator Mutlu theoretically plays for Firtinaspor, but the manager says Mutlu only comes to home games and doesn't have time for training sessions anymore because he has just built himself "a little house."
Mutlu makes a brief appearance, wearing sunglasses and a white cap as if he, not his brother, were the famous player. He says he can't say anything about the agency's work, explaining that the media consultant does that. He goes back to his vehicle to get the telephone number. His black sports car is parked outside the stadium, his dark-haired wife sitting inside.
During the game, a spectator says he comes from the same Turkish village as the Özils, in the country's rural district of Devrek. He says the nice thing about Özil's success as a professional is that everyone has stayed so down-to-earth, even his father and brother.
In Gdansk, Mesut Özil smiles under the elaborate plastic lamp, his former shyness all but forgotten. He is relieved he can finally speak about football. Özil says he plays soccer with his "body and soul," and he's pleased about his father's agency, which looks after him. "I think it's great because I now have experienced people around me who can take a load off my shoulders. A father wants what's best for his son. That's the most important thing, I think."
Özil senior purports to be Mesut's harshest critic. He says he once ordered a youth coach to substitute his son during a game. But his son says: "He doesn't really criticize me."
Mustafa Özil loves his son's new-found independence. He says he's started cooking -- menemen, for example, a Turkish dish made with eggs, tomatoes and garlic sausage. "I could cook before," Mesut Özil says. "Now and again I would watch my mother." He says he cooks Turkish dishes, while his buddy Khedira cooks Arab ones, and "both taste really good."
What does he think about the fact that -- as his father claims -- the media report so little about his games with Real Madrid? Özil says that's a shame, of course, but on the other hand: "I rarely read. Up to now I haven't noticed they aren't reporting much. If that's the case, I don't know, perhaps it will be different in future. No idea."
His father recently organized a photo shoot for Mesut that appeared in a magazine dedicated to soccer and fashion. In one photo, the player's legs are ensconced in tight black pants with a flower motif, his feet and calves sheathed in knee-high boots. He holds his face up to the sun with his eyes closed, a scarf is slung around his neck.
The text accompanying the photos rave about his "deep-black shimmering Winnetou haircut" (in reference to popular German writer Karl May's fictional Apache warrior). The look "highlights his androgynous traits," it says. And, "in the heat of battle," Özil's expression is reminiscent of "Michelangelo's sibylline eyes." The Spanish photographer, the text relays, also noted the similarity between Özil and Italian silent-film actor Rudolph Valentino.
Özil's father Mustafa likes that, especially the pictures. "Shot from below! That's top notch," he says. "It makes him look great, like a model."
His son will be contesting the semifinal of the Euro 2012 in Warsaw on Thursday. Mesut Özil says he's on the right path.

You do not win titles at the start of the season. We have not found our best form yet as a team, but nothing is lost just yet. We have to make sure we get back on track as soon as possible now. We have had a bit of bad luck. We don’t score enough goals. These things happen in football, though.

There is always a lot of competition when you play for a team like Real Madrid. We do not have just 11 players, but Madrid always have about 18 great players. You simply get used to that. It is not about Ozil, Modric or Kaka. The team is all that matters.

This is my third year at Real Madrid. When I came here, lots of people didn’t believe that I could achieve my objectives at this world class club. But I did. We won the championship and the cup, and I’m a regular in a very important position. I’m proud of that fact and I’ve worked very hard for this, but I don’t think I’ve reached the end of the road, because I’m still young and I’m sure that the next step is just around the corner.
