アーセナルに２－１で勝利！今期一つ目のカップを獲得！
ただし超人的な回復力で出場していたテリー選手が
頭に怪我。。。担架に乗って、退場し
3人もレッドカードで退場。ずい分な試合だったようです。
その後テリー選手の怪我も大事にならずに済んだようで、ホッと一息。

ドログバ、テリーの怪我で喜びも半減

Chelsea hero Didier Drogba admitted he had mixed emotions
after an incident-packed Carling Cup final in which his goals
secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal, skipper John Terry was
taken to hospital with a head injury and three players were sent off.
この日のヒーロー、ドログバさんも複雑な気分だそう。
Drogba cancelled out Theo Walcott's opener for the Gunners and,
after the Blues lost Terry to an accidental kick on the head
from Abou Diaby, he headed home Arjen Robben's cross
to claim the first trophy of the season.
アーセナル、Abou Diabyがテリーの頭をキックして怪我を負わせた！
今期これで3人目ではないですか。頭部のケガ人。
酷いです。呪われてるのじゃないですか？今期のチェルシー。
その後、ドログバさんがこの試合2点目をあげて、

The drama did not end there with referee Howard Webb dismissing
Chelsea's Mikel Jon Obi and Arsenal's Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor
following an injury-time brawl.
ドラマはこの後も続き、ミケル、Kolo Toure、アデバイヨールが
延長時間の中で起きた騒ぎの中で、退場となった。

カップ獲得は嬉しいけれど、いつテリーが戻るのか分からないのが

あれが起きた時、1メートルしか離れていないところにいたから

今回の怪我で彼の性格が皆によく分かった。これだから、彼は僕たちの
キャプテンだし、最高のプレーヤーなんだ。

ドログバ選手の1点目は、バラック選手からのパス！だった！
オフ・サイド位置だったようだけど、フラッグが上がらず
首尾よくゴールを決めてくださったようですね～。さ・す・が！
バラックさんも貢献できてて、嬉しいお話です。
(ビデオで見たら、オフサイドではなかったです！）
Drogba's efforts should have given Chelsea the platform

だけど、この後は気を引き締めたアーセナルの若い選手達の
熾烈な攻撃が続いて、テリー選手への酷い、
気分悪くなるような怪我へとつながってしまった。。。

チェルシー医療スタッフが、キャプテンの救急治療にあたる間、試合中断。
ポルト戦で足首を負傷したにもかかわらず、積極的にこの試合に
出場したテリーの果敢さが浮き彫りにされた。


テリー選手は入院せずに済んだ模様。
チェルシー公式サイトでは、病院から帰ったテリー選手が
更衣室へ戻ってきて、他の選手から歓迎される様子とインターヴューを
チェルシーTVで流す予定、と伝えているので、
大事には至らなかったようです。

先日Youtubeチェルシー専用サイトで、テリー選手が
ランパード選手の婚約者エレンさんと電話で話しているのを
見たばかり。テリー選手の素顔っていいな～、
ピッチ上の吠えるテリーさんとは違うわー、と
見とれていたので、今回はビックリ、そしてホッとしました。

バラック氏を応援していると、チェルシーの選手達
皆、好きになります。別ビデオで、ディアラ選手をいじくる
エッシェン、ドログバ、ジェミニ、カルー、そしてマケレレの
アフリカ勢選手たち。じゃれ合ってて、仲良さそう。
ドログバ選手が英語がまだ慣れないディアラ選手に
フランス語通訳していて、さ・す・が！と感心しました。

UNAIDS(国連合同エイズ計画）の特別代表も務めるバラック選手ですが
そのキャンペーン・ビデオで
Be smart – protect yourself！
と英語で！語りかけています。

to young people around the globe by speaking about HIV prevention
in a new UNAIDS public service announcement (PSA).
世界中の若者へ向けて、公共広告でエイズ予防を呼びかけている
マイケル・バラック。

The PSA was filmed at Chelsea Football Club’s famous football ground
Stamford Bridge, where Michael has been playing as part of the team
since his move from Bayern Munich in 2006.
スタンフォード・ブリッジで撮影された、

Michael is helping people to make the smart choices
and to help prevent the spread of HIV by appearing
in the 30 second clip for UNAIDS.
His message plays on sporting metaphors: ‘
On the pitch you can play hard and take risks to score.
But with HIV you are playing with your life––
Be smart – protect yourself.’
30秒のビデオで、エイズの広がりを防ぐため、賢い選択を、
と呼びかけている。彼のメッセージは・・・
「ピッチ上では激しく戦い、点を取るために危険だって冒す。
だけどエイズは、君の命が懸かった戦いだ。
賢くなろうーー自分自身を守るために！」

"A lot of people know footballers, they look up to us,
and I think we should all fight AIDS together,”
said Michael Ballack while shooting the short film.
サッカー選手は多くの人々に知られる存在で、敬意をもって
見られる存在だ。だから皆で一緒にエイズと戦えると思う、
フィルム撮影中にバラックは語っている。

During the video, Ballack delivers key HIV prevention messages
while demonstrating the footballing skills he is so famous for
on the pitch.
ビデオの中で、バラックは得意なフットボールのスキルを披露。
　
AIDS statistics are displayed on the stadium's big screen:
‘During the course of a 90 minute football match
more than 500 people will have died of AIDS,
180 under 25 years old.’
「1試合90分の間に500人の人がエイズで亡くなっている。そのうち

After reading the statistics,
Michael switches from player to referee:
blowing his whistle, shaking his head and rather than
holding out a red card he holds up a red condom.

and there is one very simple way – HIV prevention!
数字が消えるとマイケルはプレーヤーからレフェリーに変身。

Michael Ballack accepted his appointment
as UNAIDS Special Representative in May 2006,
pledging to raise awareness around HIV in the sporting arena.
He said, “AIDS is everyone’s business.
Sport and especially football can help break social barriers
and fight the stigma around HIV.…
I want today’s youth to know the facts about AIDS.”
バラック選手、特別代表の役割を去年5月に引き受けたそうで
スポーツ界におけるエイズ認識を高めたい、と語っています。
「エイズは全ての人々の問題。
フットボールは、社会の中にある壁を取り払い、
エイズに押された不名誉な烙印との戦いを
手助け出来るスポーツだと思う。
若い人達にエイズの実態を知ってもらいたい。」

こういう形の社会貢献もしているバラック選手は
やっぱり、素敵な人です。

チームに合流！

バラックさん、早く戻って来てくれないかなあ～、空虚です～
と嘆いていたら、チェルシー公式サイトに、久しぶり
Ballack
の文字が！！　わ～い！！

バラック選手、今日(20日）の午後Oportoに到着して
明日のポルト戦を戦うチームに合流したそうです。嬉しいな。
2週間前のスイス戦以後、ここ2試合欠場。

チームメンバーは
ツェフ、クディチーニ、イラーリオ、ヘドマン、マケレレ、
エッシェン、カルバーリヨ、シェフチェンコ、ランパード
ドログバ、ミケル、バラック！！ジェレミ、ロッベン、ブリッジ、

嬉しくて全員書き出してしまった。

多くの報道陣がチームの到着を待って、空港で待機している中、
やっぱり注目された人物はモウリーニョさん。
何百人もの人々、いくつかのカメラ・クルー、
生中継もされたそうで、皆ベストのカメラポジションを狙って
競い合ったらしい。Oportoの天気は日が出ているけど雨模様。

アウェイだけど、ポルトに勝利してください。
モウリーニョさんだから、きっと勝利するでしょう。

ところで、MBサイトで知ったのですが、チェルシーは
Youtubeにチェルシー専門サイトを作ったそうですね。
さすが、チェルシー。目の付け所が違います。
世界中のチェルシーファンから送られてくるニュース画像を
いち早く見ることが出来るサイトになってくれるのでしょうか。
期待しています。

On Friday, Chelsea became the first football club
to launch their own subsite on YouTube,
the internet's most popular video portal.
Under the URL www.youtube.com/chelseafc
you'll not only find news and archive footage,
the site also allows supporters to present themselves.
Youtubeに専門サイトを持つのは、フットボールクラブとしては
チェルシーが第一号。ここでは最新ニュースの他、
過去のニュース映像も見つけられる。またサポーターが
映像を送ることも出来る。

Chelsea's Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said:
"We are delighted to work with YouTube.
Chelsea is the first football club to move into
what is clearly one of the fastest growing new media platforms.

バラック選手、スイス戦で怪我

スイスとの親善試合で負傷、途中退場したそうで心配です。
試合は３－１でドイツ勝利でしたけど、バラック選手は
復帰まで、2～4週間かかるらしく、結構重傷だそうな。

スイス戦のハイライトで、1点目はバラック選手のヘッドを
キーパーがはじいて、こぼれたボールをクラニー選手が押し込んだ
ということが分かって嬉しかったです！

Mourinho curses Ballack's injury as jinx strikes again　
Matt Hughes Chelsea’s injury problems worsened yesterday
with the news that Michael Ballack has torn a hamstring
and could be out for several weeks.
The Germany captain limped out of his side’s 3-1 win over Switzerland
just before half-time on Wednesday with a suspected thigh problem,
but the injury is more serious than first feared.
バラック選手、ハムストリング裂傷で、数週間、戦列を離れることとなり
モウリーニョ監督は不運を罵ったそうで。。。
3－1で勝利したスイス戦の、ハーフタイム直前、バラック選手は太ももに
違和感を感じて退場したそうですが、怪我は当初心配されたものより
深刻なものだったらしい。

The midfield player received initial treatment in Germany
before a scan revealed a small tear to his right hamstring
that will keep him out for between two and four weeks.
ドイツで最初の治療を受け、その後スキャナー検査したところ
右腱に小さな裂傷が見つかり、復帰まで2～4週間のかかる、と判明。

Ballack returned to Chelsea’s crowded treatment room
to begin his rehabilitation yesterday,
although the exact extent of his injury will remain unclear
until the pain subsides in a week or so.
昨日（2月8日）チェルシーに戻って、リハビリを始めたのだけど
痛みが引いていく1週間後にならないと、傷の程度は正確には分からないらしい。

The club’s medical department is optimistically targeting
for a potential return the Champions League tie against FC Porto
on February 21, or the Carling Cup final against Arsenal four days later,
although a more realistic timetable would allow him to come back
for the Barclays Premiership fixture against Portsmouth on March 3.
クラブの医療チームは、楽観的に見れば、2月21日のCL、ポルト戦
あるいはその4日後のカーリング・カップ、アーセナル戦に
復帰させることを目指したい、としているけど
現実的には、3月3日のプレミア・リーグ、ポーツマス戦あたりになりそう

Joachim Löw, the Germany head coach, admitted that Ballack was
struggling in England after talking to him this week,
but backed him to succeed eventually.
“I had a long conversation with Michael,” Löw said.
“He knows it’s not easy to make the change
from German football to the Premier League,
but he will become accepted in England with Chelsea.”
レヴ監督も、今は苦労しているけど、チェルシーに馴染むだろう、って
応援してくれてます！

欠場は長期化
Following Michael Ballack's thigh injury in Wednesday's international,
it had been rather obvious he would not be able to play
against Boro today.
水曜の親善試合での怪我で、今日のミドルス・ブラ戦欠場は明らかだったが、、

However, an MRI examination seems to indicate
that the injury is more severe than was initially suspected
and that Ballack may have partially torn a muscle.
MRI検査の結果、怪我は当初の見込みより深刻で
太腿筋肉の一部裂傷の可能性があり、、

That could keep him out of action for up to four weeks.
He would thus miss not only the much-anticipated league encounter
with Arsenal (Feb. 25), but also the Champions League tie with Porto.
4週間の戦列離脱となりそう。期待されていたポルト戦、アーセナル戦とも
欠場することになるでしょう。

『ハケンの品格』記事でも英語の勉強

連続テレビドラマは、めったに見ないのですが
ハケンの品格というドラマ、毎水曜日が待ち遠しいほど
ハマって見ております。

有り得ないような設定で、劇画チックなストーリーなのに
それぞれのキャラクターの、仕事に対するポリシーや
生きる姿勢が、台詞の中に盛り込まれていて面白い。
笑い放しです。

辛口のテレビ番組批評をするデイリー・ヨミウリの
Wm. Penn氏が絶賛してましたので、転載しておきます。

Every overworked, under-appreciated office lady in the land
should tune to Haken no Hinkaku (Wednesdays, 10 p.m., NTV network)
for some vicarious vindication.
Haven't seen a series this satisfying in a long time.
It manages to both light comedy and scathing social comment.
超過労働、過小評価の待遇を受けているOL達、ハケンの品格を見るべし。
主人公の経験を自分のことにように感じ、スッキリするだろう。
こんなに楽しめるシリーズは久しぶり。
軽いタッチのコメディであり、痛烈な社会風刺メッセージでもある。

Ryoko Shinohara is excellent as Haruko Omae,
a supertalented haken shain (temp agency worker)
who sets her own conditions and takes no nonsense from anyone.
Haken no Hinkaku is thought - provoking stress relief for a nation
caught up in the current employment mess
where many now find they have to accept low wages, no security,
bonus or benefits just to get a job.
篠原涼子演じる大前春子は、労働条件を自分で設定し、
無意味な要求は一切受け付けない、スーパー派遣社員。
仕事を得るためには、低賃金、保障無し、ボーナス、諸手当なし、
といった条件を受け入れざるを得ない、混乱状況の中にある
現在の労働者たちにとってはストレス発散のドラマと言える。

Omae's answer to the conundrum is to be independent, highly skilled
and versatile. In Episode 1, we found out she is a whiz at computers,
can operate a forklift and makes a perfect cup of tea.
大前が考えた、この難局を乗り切るための手段は、会社に頼らず、
多方面に渡る知識、資格、高いスキルを身に付けること。
1話で私達視聴者は、彼女が、コンピューターの達人であり、
フォークリフトを操作でき、完璧に美味しいお茶をいれることが出来る
派遣社員であることを知った。

She carries out her assignment ultraefficiently,
but invests no passion in her job, accepts no overtime
and doesn't buy into the corporate vision or team spirit.
Her real passion is flamenco dancing.
彼女は与えられた任務を、ビックリする程、能率良く仕上げるが
仕事への愛着は全くなく、残業は決してせず、
協力精神やチーム・スピリットといった考えは持たない。
彼女の真の情熱は、フラメンコに注がれている。

Shinohara enjoys a good supporting cast.
We see Omae through the adoring eyes of her temp agency coworker
Miyuki (Ai Kato), a young woman who fits the haken stereotype
-- young, inexperienced and rather irresponsible.
Hokkaido actor Yo Oizumi is good as the seishain ( full-time employee )
section head who contemptuously addresses Haruko as "Omae"
( a condescending form of "you").
篠原はぴったりの脇役を得ている。
大前は、派遣社員の同僚、みゆきの憧れの眼差しを通して語られる。
みゆきは若くて未熟、かなり無責任という派遣社員のステレオ・タイプ。
北海道出身の俳優、大泉洋は正社員の主任役で、同様にはまり役。
春子を失礼にも、『おまえ』と呼ぶのだ。

She simply uses her surname to put him in his place.
"Omae," she shoots back while referring to him with a more polite,
but equally condescending, term "seishain-san".
The script for episode one was full of sharply crafted dialogue like this.
彼女は、それを正すのに、『大前です！正社員さん』とやり返す。
このように、台詞は実に鋭く、練りに練った会話で満ちている。

Even Kotaro Koizumi, who plays Haruko's superior
in the new marketing department, is good
considering his role requires him to do little more than
look convincingly incompetent.
The scene in which Haruko pulls him up out of a bus seat
by his necktie so it could be offered to a little old lady
is a classic.
春子のマーケティング部上司を演じる小泉孝太郎でさえ、よく演じている。
仕事面での能力には欠ける役割だが、
それ以上の、何かを持ち合わせていることを求められる役であるので。
老女にバスの席を譲らせるために、春子が彼のネクタイを引っ張って
退かせたシーンは、それが表れる、最高の出来であった。


批評はこんな風にべた褒め。
会社は労働力を切り売りする場、と割り切っている大前さんと
会社は泣いて笑って、一緒に生きる場、と考える東海林主任との
バトルが相当面白く、鋭いです。

舞台となっている商社は、日本的企業風土が色濃く残る、家族的雰囲気の職場。
経営合理化の影響で、欧米の企業風土（効率優先）へと変化しつつある。
この企業文化の衝突、せめぎ合いがベースにある訳です。

『会社なんて信じない。信じられるのは、自分のスキルだけ』とする大前さん。
『会社はホーム、社員は家族。派遣は赤の他人。』とする東海林さん。
3話で危機を救ってもらった東海林さんは、
急速に大前さんへ気持ちが傾いていってるんですが、
今後も二人のバトルから目が離せませんね～。
『納得行かねーよ』と嘆く東海林主任は、かなり可愛い！！

チャールトン戦に勝利

土曜深夜に、ケーブルTVでは珍しく、チェルシー戦の生中継がありました。
私は、生で見る根性ないので、今日、飛ばし飛ばし見ただけです。
チャールトン戦。１－０で勝利。追いつかれなくて、よかった、よかった。

テリー選手もほんの5分足らずだけど、出場を果たしたし
リヴァプール、アーセナル共、引き分けたので、3，4位との差を広げられたし
今だけで言えば、マンチェスター・Uとの差を３と詰めたし。

バラック選手は、永井洋一さんに、色々言われておりましたが
それは、こっちに置いといて。。。と。
相変わらずステキなので、何言われても、いいです。

試合後、メディアで名前を見つけることが
これしか出来ませんでした。
