Schuster expresses interest in Ballack

BERLIN (AP) - Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is interested in signing Chelsea's Germany midfielder Michael Ballack.

"With his class, he fits perfectly to Real Madrid," Schuster said to German public television station ARD, which released excerpts Friday of an interview to be aired the next day.

Schuster said the transfer fee wanted by Chelsea for Ballack isn't a problem, nor his weekly salary reported at 130,000 pounds (US$260,000; €194,000).

The English club has the 30-year-old Germany captain under contract until 2010.

"I can very well imagine him playing for my team," Schuster said.

Madrid has made offers to Ballack several times in his career, including 2005 when he switched from Bayern Munich to Chelsea. The Spanish champions are still looking to fill the midfield gap left by the retired Zinedine Zidane.

傷の治療処置が不十分だったため、何か合併症を起こしていたバラック選手。先週の木曜かこの週末（14，15日）に、ミュンヘンの病院で抜糸予定でしたが、この予定はキャンセルされた、とのこと。当初、抜糸後にL.A.トレーニング・キャンプに参加できるかどうかを担当医師が決める、としていたのですが、予定通りにいっていないようです。

Mourinho makes pressure on Ballack and said at the chelsea trainings camp:'When Ballack comes back,he will meet some other guys who are in excellent shape.Therefore it won't be easy for him.'Mourinho wants to change his tactical system.Last season he did let play with 4-4-2(also because of Ballack).Now for the next season he wants to return to 4-3-3.But Mourinho also encourages Ballack:'He is a top player,a personality,who is ready to fight for his place in the team.'

長いインタヴューに答えております。
公式より、さらに詳しい受け答えが、ここTimes On Lineに
掲載されていまして、気になる箇所だけ、抜き出してみました。

So you want to go back to wingers, to go back on the front foot again?
ウィンガーを置くフォーメーションに戻したい、ということですか、と今シーズンの戦略を尋ねられて・・・

“We will work our 4-3-3 with wingers, of course, and we will change our 4-4-2 with a diamond to a 4-4-2 with wingers. So the objective of having Robben and [Florent] Malouda and Joe [Cole] and [Solomon] Kalou and so on is because we want to have always these solutions to give width to our game, to give depth, to give speed, to give creativity. We want to do that.”
当然4－3－3で、ウィンガーを置く形をとる。それから、ダイアモンドの4－4－2から、ウィンガーのいる4－4－2、というフォーメーションに変えるつもり、ということらしい。チームのフォーメーションに、広がりと厚みとスピードを加え、創造性、独創性を発揮してもらうために、ロッベン、マルーダ、ジョー・コール、カルーを使う、みたいなことを言ってらっしゃるけど、ハッキリ言って、技術的なことは、よく分からない！！

二人のストライカーのうち、ひとりはトップと中盤の二役を勤めてもらうかもしれない。ディディエとカルーは、100％トップのストライカー。ピツァーロとシェヴァは、後ろ目から、走りこんで来られるような頭脳派プレーヤー。なので、今のところ、これら４選手達で、トップ組み合わせを考えている様子。何か、そうせねばならない理由がない限り、ダイアモンド形は取りたくなくて、基本的にはウィンガーを置く形を取りたいらしい。

そうなんです。LAでトレーニングしている、チェルシーのチームメート達の様子を見たりすると、応援する者としては、焦るんですよね。まあ、でもここは、グッと堪えましょう。ウ～ン、苦しいなあ。でも何と言っても、怪我をきちんと治すことが大切。アメリカ遠征は、チェルシーの広告活動のひとつですし、無理しないでリハビリに励んでほしいです。

リハビリを続け、その後の経過によって、
ツアー参加するかどうか、が決定されるらしい。

バラック公式フォーラムを読むと、どうやら今回の手術は、前回手術した箇所の処置が十分でなく、手術の傷跡が神経を圧迫して、痛みを生んでいた模様。

Today Michael had a second operation on his ankle in Munich.The cure of his wound of the first operation was not good enough.The scar made pressure upon a nerve and Michael had pains.

痛みが去って、良い経過を辿れますように。

今日、授業の下準備をしていて、初めて気付きました！

Practice Test Twoの　Part One、 PHOTOのパート
number（9） にバッ、バラック選手がいる～！！347ページです～！
誰かと（無知なもので、相手が誰か分からない）
ボールを競り合っている写真ですよ～。もうビックリ。
ついに、TOEICとバラックとの接点を、見つけてしまいました。
興奮しちゃいました。

このパートは、1枚の写真について、4つの英文が聞こえ、
写真の状況を正しく述べているものを選べ、という形式。
どんな問題文だろうと、調べてみますと・・・

(A) The players are on the field.
(B) The match is on the table.
(C) The fruit stand is large.
(D) The balloon is in the air.

はは～ん、この問題集制作チームには、バラックファンがいるぞ！
ピ～ンときましたよ。

(A)が正解で、players,fieldがキーワード。
(B) は、火をつけるmatchを、試合の matchと混同させよう、というhomonym系。
(C)(D)は、かなり多い、similar sounds系。
で、読んでみました。

(C) The Blues' stadium is large.
(D) Ballack is in the air. （ヘディングのイメージ！)

苦しいこじ付け。。。無理があったでしょうか？
いいや、隠された言葉は、ほぼこれに違いない、
と確信するに至りましたーー。

バラック選手を使っているこの本を、わたくし、多いに推奨したいと思います。
これは、かなり良く出来た教材だ、と思います。ホントに。
易しい問題から、本番のテストレベルへと、上手く導いてくれる。
問題数が、半端じゃなく多い、特にパート(3)と(4)。
準備段階の練成問題と、模擬テストが、上手くリンクしている。
などなど、使いやすいですヨ。

Michael Ballack faces second ankle surgery

Michael Ballack faces another surgery on his left ankle. The surgery on the 30-year old captain of the German national team will be performed on Tuesday in Germany, as Ballack's club FC Chelsea made it public on the Premier League's team official webpage. The operation is related only to a complication in the healing of the wound from the previous injury in April.
バラックは、火曜日、もう一度、左足首に手術を受けることとなった、と所属クラブ、チェルシー公式サイトで発表された。手術は、4月に負傷した傷が治癒する中で起きた、合併症に関連するもの。

記事はどれも、complicationという語を使っているのですが、傷が治っていく段階で、併発する症状とは、どんなものなのでしょう。しかも、再手術が必要な程度とは？心配です。

いくつかのスポーツメディアを巡っていたら、ESPNの記事は、ちょっとホッとできました。負傷した箇所に、新たに、別の故障が見つかった、とか、前の傷が悪化したとか、そういうのとは違うようです。(と、勝手の解釈）治癒途中で生じた問題を、完璧に取り除くための手術のよう。(と、勝手に希望的観測の基づき、解釈。）

Blues wait on Ballack for American tour

Chelsea will wait for a full medical assessment on Michael Ballack's ankle operation before deciding whether to include him in their squad for a tour of America next week.
来週に迫ったアメリカでのスケジュール。この中にバラック選手を含めるか、どうかは、彼の診断結果を待って決める。

Ballack injured his ankle against Newcastle last season and underwent surgery in May but he is to have a further operation to clear up a complication with healing of the wound.
5月に手術を受けたバラックは、この傷が、治癒していく際に生じた合併症を、完治させるための手術を、再び受ける。

A spokesman for Chelsea confirmed: 'Michael Ballack will have an operation in Germany on his ankle today.

'The operation is related only to a complication in the healing of the wound from previous surgery in May.'

Chelsea are due to take part in an open training session at UCLA next Tuesday before taking on Club America at the Stanford Stadium on July 14.

2002年、ウオール・ストリート・ジャーナル誌記者だったダニエル・パール氏が、パキスタン、カラチで取材中に誘拐、殺害されたのは、ショッキングな画像とともに、記憶に残っていますが、その妻、マリアンヌを主人公にした映画なのだそうです。

Four months after 9/11, Pearl, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, was in Karachi, Pakistan, with Mariane, who was five months pregnant with their first child.

He was working on a story about a possible Karachi connection to 'shoe-bomber ' Richard C. Reid when on Jan. 23, 2002, he was kidnapped by Qaeda members.

After releasing a series of increasingly disturbing photos of pearl in captivity, they beheaded him on a videotape that would be leaked to the media and broadcast to the world.

The film is based on the best-selling book of these events, written by Mariane and former NEWSWEEK editor Sarah Crichton,

テロリズムは精神面にダメージを与える武器なのです。自分の世界観、価値観を主張しにくくさせ、他の人との交わりにブレーキをかけ、恐怖と憎しみを生み出します。普通の市民としてテロリストと戦う道は、ただ一つ。恐怖、憎悪といった気持ちを持たないこと。彼らを恐れなければ、彼らの負けです。

I'm not saying this because I'm a nice person. It's not forgiveness that motivates me. Terrorists expect retaliation. The one thing they're not expecting is my happiness. That's true revenge. And when I see Adam (her son) and I see how happy he is, I think, ' I'm winning.'
