Frankfurt - German playing great Franz Beckenbauer believes Michael Ballack will play a major role at the European Championships but that the German team needs to pick up a gear. In an interview with the German Football Federation (DFB) released Monday, the Bayern Munich president said he was confident that German captain Ballack would be at his best in June.
The Chelsea midfielder was sidelined for almost eight months last year after a complicated ankle injury and had not played for Germany since March last year until featuring in last month's 3-0 victory over Austria in a friendly.

The two Chelsea midfielders are considered very similar in style and questions have been raised about whether they can work in tandem.

However, they have been paired together in the last two matches and both have scored each time.

Ballack feels an understanding is developing and hopes Avram Grant will continue to select him alongside Lampard.

"It's getting better from game to game," said the German. "I had a long injury before and he had one as well.

The two Chelsea midfielders are considered very similar in style and questions have been raised about whether they can work in tandem.

Michael Ballack is yet to suffer the indignities heaped on Andriy Shevchenko since the pair arrived at Chelsea in May 2006, but no one would pretend his spell in west London has been glorious.

なかなか２時間かけて、TVの前で観戦が出来ない今日この頃。本物のチェルシーファンの方からは、お叱り受けそうですけど、得点シーンや退場シーンだけ早回ししながら見ました。J.コール、動き目覚しくて、ゴール素晴らしい！テリー、気迫すごい！カルバーリョ、大人！
ランパードがボアモルテと、もつれて倒れて、小突き合いとなった時、まず相手を押さえなだめていたのがカルバーリョで、各選手入り乱れる中にバラック見えず。で、副審が何やら主審に囁いた後、主審がやにわにレッドカードを腰のポケットから出してランパードに示すと、そこから離れた場所で騒動発生。バラックがやってますね、の声。相手選手達に抑えられて、怒りを顕にするバラック。結局イエローもらっちゃいましたけど、ランパードのために激しく抗議する姿、良かったです。ランパードは何かを感じたでしょうか。

Having overseen our best ever result in a fixture at West Ham, Avram Grant was understandably a happy man.

ランパードがボアモルテと、もつれて倒れて、小突き合いとなった時、まず相手を押さえなだめていたのがカルバーリョで、各選手入り乱れる中にバラック見えず。で、副審が何やら主審に囁いた後、主審がやにわにレッドカードを腰のポケットから出してランパードに示すと、そこから離れた場所で騒動発生。バラックがやってますね、の声。相手選手達に抑えられて、怒りを顕にするバラック。結局イエローもらっちゃいましたけど、ランパードのために激しく抗議する姿、良かったです。ランパードは何かを感じたでしょうか。
さて、試合後のグラント監督は、嬉しげです。

Having overseen our best ever result in a fixture at West Ham, Avram Grant was understandably a happy man.

The 4-0 score line achieved today after goals from Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Ashley Cole eclipses last season's 4-1 win, and keeps us in touching distance of league leaders Arsenal, who could only draw against Aston Villa this afternoon.
