Guus Hiddink, in his third month in charge of Chelsea, continues to learn about the players and after keeping Barcelona at bay, praised courage and mental toughness.
チェルシー監督就任後3ヶ月、ヒディンクは選手達について、新しい面を学び続けている。そしてバルセロナを零封後、彼らの勇気と不屈の闘志を褒め称えた。
But not just bravery on its own. It took more than raw determination and spirit to keep the world's most revered attacking side at bay on their own turf.
それは勇気そのものに対する賞賛ではない。それは、世界から最も崇敬を集めているチーム、バルセロナを、それも彼らのホームで、零点に食い止めたこと。その強烈な印象を与えた「決意」と「精神」以上の何か、に対しての賞賛だ。
'When you look at the recent history of Barça, with their results and their scoring here, this is the first time they haven't scored in a home game, that is quite an achievement against a beautiful team who can play beautifully as we saw tonight,' said Hiddink who declared himself pleased with the result.

'Of course we have to improve. We can play better but it was also due to an opponent who doesn't let you play.'

That improvement he has put on order for the second leg next week when the danger of an away goal will hang over Stamford Bridge. For the time being however Hiddink was prepared to speak of key players in keeping our goal intact during the first 90 minutes of the tie, including his keeper who made several first class saves, in the second-half especially.
