FAZ:“The established players seem to want to save their status in the team,right?“
記者：実績があり、ポジションが定着している選手は、その位置を譲りたくはありませんよね。
Ballack:“Naturally it seems so.But nobody of us has demanded a place in the first 11 in public.Or do you have heard this??“
バラック：当然そうでしょう。しかし、トップイレヴンの中で、自分のポジションを、当然のように要求する選手は、一人もいません。あなたは、そんな要求を聞いたことがありますか？
FAZ:“What do you fear,if nobody is listening to you?“
もし、誰もあなたの話に耳を傾けなかったら、何が心配になりますか？
Ballack:“The performances of the national team are good.The results are good.The team has a certain mature,because the ranks in the team are o.k.We have very important players like Lahm and Mertesacker.
I took part at the Euro 2000 as a young player and I had to watch that a team with good solo players didn’t work because there were no ranks.I want to become world champion with the team.And this is possible.“
バラック：代表チームは良い成績を上げています。良い結果を出しているのです。成熟したチームです。グループの一員としてプレーするメンバーが良い。ラームやメルテザッカーといった、とても貴重な選手達もいます。
私はユーロ2000の、若手メンバーでした。そこで分かったことは、個人技が優れた選手が集まったチームは、上手く行かないこと。グループの一員としてプレーする者がいないからです。私は、このチームで世界チャンピオンとなりたいのです。これは可能なことです。
FAZ:“One of the w.c.1990 winners,Olaf Thon,has critizised you very much because of your performances vs.Russia and Wales.Thon is predicting for you and Frings only the sitting on the bench.He is calling Schweinsteiger the real captain.What is your reaction to this provocation?“

Ballack:“That’s impossible.I don’t know,whether he has watched a match of me in the last 3 weeks or 2 years.That’s not true.But this is a trend,that I’m watching during the last weeks.Some players were insulted.I’m expecting finally only the comments of Lothar Matthäus!!“

Ballack:“Perhaps he will be,in the future.But that’s all too quick here in Germany.Playing well for a month and suddenly you should be world class.He is a very important player for us.He is developping very well at FC Bayern.During the last months,it was not easy for him in his club.When FC Bayern was complete,he didn’t play constantly.He will develop himself very well in future,because he is very professional and a strong player.“

Ballack:“Surely,good performances and achievement are important things for players,but we must make differences,where and when were the good performances.And when the national team coach is demanding that young players should make more pressure,that’s o.k.But we shouldn’t exaggerate this.“

FAZ:“Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has praised you very much recently as a strategic excellent player,who is able to make and influence a match and you are making a new dimension with your kind of playing.
As only german player you were just nominated for the list of europe’s best football player.How suitable is that to the present atmosphere of the german national team?“
