Cometh the hour, cometh the iceman. With typical German cool, Chelsea match winner Michael Ballack claimed to have enjoyed the pressure of taking the late penalty which gave his side victory over Manchester United and kept alive the title race.
アイスマンの時が訪れた。アイスマンがやって来た。（icemanには、とても冷静な人、殺し屋、という意味あり）
ドイツ人特有の冷静さを発揮したバラック。マン・Uに勝利し、タイトルレースに踏みとどまるための、試合終盤のPKの際にも、そのプレッシャーを楽しめた、と語った。

With just seven minutes left and United level thanks to Wayne Rooney's equaliser, referee Alan Wiley gave a penalty for Michael Carrick's hand-ball on the advice of his assistant, Glen Turner.
ルーニーのゴールで同点となったまま、残り7分となった時、アシスタントレフェリーがキャリックのハンドを指摘。ペナルティ・キックが与えられた。


That left United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his players furious, and Ballack with a two-minute wait before he could step up to the spot, taking over the penalty duties from Frank Lampard, who was not playing after the death of his mother.
この判定にファーガスン監督以下、選手達は猛抗議。このためバラックはボールをスポットに置くのに、2分待たねばならなかった。そして母親を失ったランパードに代って、彼の任務を果たした。

For the German, however, who had headed Chelsea in front in the first half, it was just the kind of challenge he relishes. He said: "For me, it is no problem, I can handle the pressure. It is always a good situation and I like this. We had just a little chance with a win and we did it."
前半ヘッドでゴールを決めていたバラックにとって、このPKは、挑戦し甲斐のあるもの、として心地よく味わったようだ。
『私は全く動じてなかったです。プレッシャーは上手くコントロール出来ますから。プレッシャーがかかる状況というのは、いつも、緊張したいい場面なのです。そういう張りつめた場面が、私は好きなのです。我々が勝つチャンスは、ほんの僅かでした。そして我々はそれをやり遂げた。勝利したのです。』

Ballack had rowed with team-mate Didier Drogba over who should take a second-half free-kick, but he played down any suggestions of a rift, insisting the whole team were simply fired up for victory.
バラックは後半、フリーキックを巡り、ドログバと口論となったが、これについては、軽く流した。単にチーム全体が、勝利を目指して熱くなっていただけ、とした。
"Everyone after the game is fine," he said. "Him, me, everyone. It was a great victory and everyone played very strong."
『試合が終われば、皆元通り、元気ですよ。彼も、私も、チームの皆も。素晴らしい勝利でした。チーム全員、皆頑張りました。』

Chelsea manager Avram Grant dedicated the win to Lampard, and was happy with the way his players had taken the game to United. Players held up a Chelsea shirt with the name Pat Lampard and RIP on it after Ballack had opened the scoring late in the first half, and Grant said: "I want to express my sympathy to Frank.

Grant was particularly pleased with the way Chelsea ground out a win after Ricardo Carvalho's back-pass blunder had gifted an equaliser to Rooney.
グラントがとりわけ喜んでいるのは、カルバーリョのバックパスミスでルーニーに同点弾を献上してしまった後に、勝利をもぎ取った点だ。

The Chelsea manager said: "One of our best players made a mistake but this team have a lot of character and we also played good football."
グラント：『ベストプレーヤーの一人がミスを犯しましたが、このチームにはタレントが沢山そろっています。良い試合をしました。』

本当に良い試合でした。絶対に勝つ、という気持ちがチーム全体に満ちた試合でした。バラックの強い意志、冷静沈着さが活かされた、良い試合でした！！！

Jose Mourinho insists he has not signed a pre-contract with Internazionale and admits his next job could be back in the Premier League.
モウリーニョは、インテルと事前契約にも至っていないことを強調、次の就任先の選択肢の中に、プレミア・リーグも入っていることを認めた。

The Portuguese has been out of management since leaving Chelsea last September and has been strongly tipped to replace Roberto Mancini at Inter.
昨年9月にチェルシーを去って以来、監督業からは離れていたモウリーニョだが、マンチーニに代って、インテルを率いる方向へ傾いていた。
The Italian champions have denied the rumours and Mourinho has also confirmed that he currently has nothing in place for next season.
インテルはこの噂を否定、モウリーニョ自身も、来シーズンの所属クラブは、今現在決まっていない、と述べた。
"In this moment I have no club," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "I didn't sign any kind of contract, or pre-contract, or agreement, or the way you want to call it.

Mourinho would prefer to coach in a different country next season, but acknowledged he would be willing to return to England, if he receives no other offers.
モウリーニョは来シーズン、イングランド以外の国での監督業を望んでいたが、もし他にオファーがなければ、イングランドへ戻る気持ちも持っている。

He added: "I was three years and a few months in English football and being so connected with the club, with a club that I wear the shirt and I was strongly connected with the club.

The former Porto boss also confirmed there was no clause upon his departure from Stamford Bridge that would prevent him joining another Premier League club this summer.

"A lot of people were saying I had in my contract that I couldn't work in England for two years, three years, four years - it is completely untrue," Mourinho continued.

この発言聞いていると、チェルシーへの未練たっぷり、と感じてしまうのですが。イングランドを去る時は、去って行くクラブに関心はない、みたいな冷たい発言をしていたのに、カワイイ人だ。
