This is my favorite robot in JAPAN OPEN.

This resembles a genuine rescue robot.
I think this to be a beautility.
but a wiring is a little messy....
A battery is placed in right and left, and exchange is easy, and It is installed in the low position so that a center of gravity becomes low
This robot use basic sensors.

According to the presentation
The controller of this robot is PIC16F84A.
They do not have a development environment toward a PC.
They use an assembler of PIC with a pocket computer made in SHARP.
