あんまり大した話じゃないんですが、英語でたまに "posh" という言葉が使われます。
posh
━━ a. 〔話〕 スマートな, 優雅な; ((副詞的)) スマートに; 豪勢な, 高級な; 流行の.
この単語、そういえば何かの略語だって誰かが言ってたのを思い出して調べてみたら、"portside out, starboard home" の略でした。
「行きは左、帰りは右」という意味です。
何のことかと言うと、（北半球限定ですが）東方へ向かう船旅では、日差しが当たる客室は暑いから煙たがられ、一方で日陰側の客室は涼しく快適で値段も高かったとか。
（つまり、北半球にいる以上は、東に向かっていると太陽は常に船の右側、逆に西に向かっていると太陽は常に船の左側にいるという意味合いで）
で、この「高い客室にいる人（Posh)」 = 「高級な、もしくはスポイルされた」という意味になるわけです。
まぁ、そんな感じです。
