「死骸の首」 A head of a corpse
(1)ある女が長く女中として働いた。彼女はかなりの金を貯めたので故郷に帰ろうと思った。しかし一人で帰郷するのは危険だった。 A woman woked for a long time as a maid. She saved faierly much money and wanted to get home. But it was dangerous for her to travel home alone.
(2)彼女は隣家の男に一緒に行ってほしいと頼んだ。彼は親切にも承諾した。 She asked a man of her neighbor to travel with her. He kindly said O.K.
(3)途中、男は彼女の首を切って殺した。彼は彼女の金を盗んだ。彼は秘かに家にもどった。 On their way, the man cut her kead and killed her. He stole her money. He secretly went back his house.
(4)ある日、奇妙な声が彼に言った。「いつか、お前は罰を受けるだろう。」声は繰り返し聞こえた。彼は意気阻喪し病気になった。 One day, a strange voice said to him, “Someday, you will be punished.” This happened again and again. He became discouraged and ill.
(5)ついに絶望的になって彼がその声にたずねた。「どこで私は罰を受けるのか？」声が答えた。「セビリヤだ。」その後、彼が声を聴くことはもはやなかった。 At last, the man desperatly asked the voice, “where will I punished?” It replied, “At Seville.” After that, he didn’t hear the voice any longer.
(6)数年後、男はもう声のことを忘れた。ある日、彼は大金をセビリヤで稼ぐチャンスを得た。彼はセビリヤに行った。 After some years, the man already forgot the voice. One day, he had a chance to get much money at Seville. He went there.
(7)セビリヤで、男はたまたま市場に行った。彼は料理して食べるため、羊の頭を買った。しばらくすると二人の警官がやってきた。彼らが男に尋ねた。「お前の袋の中に入っているのは何だ？」 At Seville, the man happened to go to a market. He bought a head of a sheep to cook and eat. After a while, two policemen came to him. They asked him, “What is it in your bag?”
(8)男が答えた。「羊の頭です。」警官たちが袋の中を見た。そこには女の死骸の首があった。 The man replied, “It’s a head of a sheep.” The policemen looked into the bag. They found a head of a corpse of the woman.
(9)裁判の後、男は絞首された。声の予言は、成就された。 After a trial, the man was hanged. The prophecy of the voice was realized.
《感想1》殺された女の怨念が、ついに恨みを晴らした。女の魂は救済されたはずだ。いつの時代、どこの国にも、怨念を持つ魂が出現する。
《感想2》悪人は罰せられねばならない。いつの時代、どこの国でも、殺して金を奪う者は悪人だ。
《感想3》正当な話だが、同時に恐ろしい話だ。
