COUGH
Yesterday, I visited the nursing home where my mother lives in her 80’s. She coughed sometimes. This made me anxious about her health. Even a common cold may cause her getting pneumonia. (Sunday, March 27, 2011)

OKINAWA
I started to go on a three-day trip to Okinawa this morning. I am now in Naha-City. Today, I visited the place where there were disastrous battles and many victims in the Second World War. I offered flowers to spirits of the deceased. In addition, I saw the factory of glass hand-work. Craftspeople were making various kinds of glassware in front of visitors including me. I was interested in their work. (Monday, March 28, 2011)

AQUARIUM
I visited Okinawa-Churaumi-Aquarium. (Churaumi means beautiful sea.) I had an exiting and refreshing experience. I saw a countless number of marine creatures. In the huge Kuroshio-tank, there were gigantic whale sharks and mantas. (Kuroshio is the warm current near Japan.) They fascinated me. (Tuesday, March 29, 2011)

BROWN SUGAR
I visited the factory of kokuto (brown sugar) today. Harvested sugarcanes were squeezed in a press-machine. The cane juice was boiled down and condensed. This one was poured into metal trays. It was solidified naturally for several minutes. It was cut into light-sized chunks called kokuto-candies. The process was interesting. (Wednesday, March 30, 2011)

SURFACE
I argued with a man about an important problem some months ago. At that time, I hated him. I condemned his bad opinion. I got angry. He excused his hurting my feeling. Today, I know that he doesn’t abandon his opinion about that problem. I am shocked. His previous excuse was only formal, surface, and superficial. (Thursday, March 31, 2011)

ETERNITY
I went to a theater to see the Takarazuka-Opera at Hibiya. I think the world of a play represents eternity. I hate that actors and actresses belong to this real world because they have to do everyday chores here. Those things have nothing to do with the world of play. This real world is incomplete and not eternal. It makes me irritated. I pursue eternity. I dream Plato’s idea. (Friday, April 1, 2011)

OKONOMIYAKI
I like okonomiyaki, that is, a Japanese-style pancake. I sometimes want to eat it. It is made from batter with bits of meat, seafood, egg, and chopped cabbage. To eat my favorite food makes me happy especially when I was irritated. Today I ate okonomiyaki at a Japanese restaurant where I usually go. (Saturday, April 2, 2011)
